has anybody played a Sunn amp?

The Sunn Model T reissue caught my eye... anybody know anything about it? I want to know peoples opinions on the clean channel and the distortion... heavy enough for metal?

From what I know of the Sunn Model T, Fender bought out the company and reissued it and everyone I know that plays Sunn says the reissues are shit. But I've never played one.
I do know that Sunn Model T's are 1 channel and I hear the distortion sucks, but its nothing a vintage Rat distortion pedal can't fix. I think people mostly use them for the incredible tone they have. Every band I've heard that uses them sound fucking beautiful, and they're heavy as shit.

Just listen to the band Sunn

My buddy had a Sunn 1x15" cab and it was bassy as hell! I think he blew the speaker somehow and then sold it. There's my $0.02

Well, like I said, if you listen to Sunn(the band), you'll get an idea for how Sunn Model T's and Sunn cabs sound.

you're kinda crazy. Theyre dual channel, both the original AND the fender reissue. And i listen to Sunn O))) and Pelican on a regular basis... and they both use the 70's versions of the head, cranked to full, and they both sound half decent.
I'm interested in the 90's version head, built by fender, which i hear is a damn sexy sounding amp... but i have yet to really find out.

2 reasons for that, its a 1x15, and sunn cabinets have oversized port holes... basically like an open back cab... means the trebel response diminishes and it gets very loose and bassy. Fender has reissued the model T cabs to have 2 parrallel input/outputs at 12 ohms each, using 4 celestion G12T-75's, and an oversized port hole to give it an open back sound. The input/outputs work by you plug amp --> cab --> another cab --> another cab in daisy chain style. BUT a port hole kills tightness... so i'm just guna get a marshall 1960A and be done with it.
