Well if you wanna play classical just take classes, they'll show you everything you need to know better than what you can probably learn off the net.

I dont see the point in havin an 8 string geetar. If you want really lo tuning, just change ur strings to something which will handle something lower than C

LOL I have no clue what you are talking about. LOL
Anyways back to reality....
Learn how to finger pick. I recently started taken classes on Jazz and Classical guitar. It's rather cool.

Yeah, I also forgot to mention if you really want to learn classical get either a teacher or a good book to guide you with how to start out so your technique doesn't end up all retarted. And grow your nails out...

Well actually, why does he probably play bass?
A mate of mine plays lead guitar, for metal, with his thumbnail. Its a long thumbnail, and I personally think it sounds a bit thin, but there is no doubting his ability or the fact it works for him. |

Because he claims to play metal and not use a pick? And maybe the fact that you pretty much need a pick if you plan to play metal (besides your friend)? A lot of bassists just use their fingers though, so I made an assumption. |

I used to have my pinky and thumb nail really long. I used to pick the strings with my guitar pick and use my pinky to pluck extra harmonies. IT's kinda hard to explain.
You can use a pick for classical. Ever hear of a thumb pick? My bassist uses one. He alternates between pick and fingers.
