Ideas for my pickups

Hey guys my gig bass is a peavey millinium bxp.I want to get dave ellefsons tone on my bass.I want these pickups http://www.americanmusical.com/item...11_294_494.html

But i heard if you get too hot of pickpus it will sound like shit.This true? Also any other ideas to get that aweseom megadeth bass tone?

could there be any problems if i buy high output pickups in a relatively cheaper bass? Like sound and electronic wise?
