Should I get this recording thinger?

It looks nifty, 24bit/96khz in and out quality and it's less expensive than an internal soundcard(plus I can easily hook it up to other comps). I'd be hooking up a mic to the mic jack it has.

I don't own a laptop, but I want this thing so I can record in higher quality than my comp's shitty onboard soundcard can(like 48khz? It's old as fuck.)

A good idea?

Does anyone have experience with these kinds of devices

I can't quote on that model right there but i've had 2 set ups and i've heard about another .I used to use an Emu soundcard and it was pretty fucking awesome. I have also heard about using the like MAudio outboard usb or firewire (i think) one and thats alot like the one you posted. I heard its pretty kick ass and its definately portable like you would want.

Right now i'm using a small firewire mixer and it in my opinion is just the only way to go. Its the alesis 6 channel firewire mixer and it rocks. Its pretty small too which is neat and not too expensive.
