I think you're in the wrong place Batman.....this is METALFORUMS.....not old rock forums.
Mind you, i do like Led Zeppelin still, they're a great band, this place is all about heavy music....so, i don't think you'll find too many (or any!) threads about the doors and Zeppelin and whatever other olds bands in here. Not necessarily old either, just not metal.

Hmm...metaltabs.com...
Strange how that would be a metal site...
If you want to talk about old metal like Zeppelin, start a thread in the Bands section about it.

I think he just did...
I have no appreciation of these bands. One of the millions of things on my global "to do" list, like invade Botswana and buy the biggest kangaroo in the world.

I don't think that good music has disappeared, I think it's disappeared from the middle of the road. Bands that used to be universally popular had talent. But now where are we? Interesting study if you do sociology.

good music will always be around, u just have to look away from the commercial bands...they r the ones bringing music down
that is why myself, and most likely most of u people listen to underground stuff, because this way they r not tainted by the commercialism and the need for acceptance in society.
the best music is probably in some guys basement in some bum-fuck town in the middle of nowhere, in which no one will ever get a chance to listen to...

Even old band's new releases are worst than their older ones...
Neurosis - A Sun What Never Sets?... duh!
Napalm Death - Enemy Of The Music Business?... they were 100x better 10 years ago!...
Sepultura, Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, Pearl Jam (yeah, Pearl Jam), Chris Cornell stuff in general, Wayward Youth, Nemesis, Frank Klepacki, Black Sabbath...... just not the same as the old one... Some of them are even suck now heavily (Metallica, NIN, ...)
There are very few different bands - Cunt Fetish and Amoeba...

pretty much every band, if not ALL band's first album is thier best...in some cases this is not the case, but i think i am correct in stating that all new bands should make 1 album, then quit.

I don't think they should quit.......just wait and work on the second album for at the very least 2 years......to get as much input and GOOD material they can. Most bands now release album after album and everything just sounds the same.

Father Death, I didn't mean that...
There are some, tho, if we don't count the demotapes...
Napalm Death - Scum (definetly the best)
In The Woods - In The Woods...
Swervedriver - Raise (It is a bit experimental album - stoner metal + greenrock + alternative accompanied may sound wierd, an unenjoyable, but those guys were experts in arranging )
IPX - Feudalism (My solo-project, and my first album of all. I think this was far the best if we compare to IPX's other releases)

What a silly rule.
Personally, I'm glad Pantera stuck around 4 or 5 albums to make Vulgar Display of Power... and Samael... and Zakk Wylde... and Ozzy, and millions of others. There's absolutely no hard and fast rule there at all.

No don't give up yet, I think I see this now. There's a trend to produce one album that has a reasonably exciting sort of sound then produce utter tripe. Examples are easy to find there eh?

You guys are talking about you have to look hard for "good" bands today and shite. It all depends on your definition of "good". If you mean talented then there are a helluva lot of mainstream bands that fit into that category. All kinds of music are still "good". COMMERCIAL bands like N'sync have to be there for the millions of teeny-bopper fanz, otherwise multi-millionaire corporations would be losing money...well, they wouldn't be multi-millionaire coporations...so that's the deal with that.

Basically, I have no point. It's late and I can't articulate...notice the assonance. ...Whoopee, I'm a literary whiz!

The weird thing is, is that I understand all that shit. Lol. Assonance isn't like a big word or anything. It's a literary term. It is a form of alliteration. It's the repetitive vowel sounds in a poem usually. Like I used laaaaaaaaate and then articulaaaaaaaaate.........the aaaa sound is repeating...plus is rhymed.
Ex. of alliteration
"The tree thought that the thermometer was...high........or something........."
Yeah that makes absolutely no sense, but a fine example. Notice the "th" sound.
Ok, lessons over for today. Lol. My english teacher would be proud.

The term "big word" is for stupid people. Those words just are not used as often so people have no idea what they mean.

I know that kiniric, you didn't have to point it out to me. The reason i used "big words" was for fun, and to make a simple joke which went right passed you. Notice the two happy faces at the end? Well those were there just to make sure everyone understood what i said as a joke.
I know that those words aren't used often in regular vocabulary, which makes them seem "smart" and "big" to people who have never heard them before.

English note:
Alliteration and assonance are two separate things. One is not a form of the other.
Alliteration is the repetition of consonant sounds: Peter Piper picked a pick of pickled peppers.
Assonance, as wannabe already pointed out, is the repetition of vowel sounds.
Now, Sibilance IS a form of Alliteration. Sibilance is the repetition of "s" sounds. This was illustrated in a very funny SNL skit in which Tom Hanks played a roadie doing a microphone check.

Actually, what you refer to, is Consonance. Both Consanance and Assonance are forms of Alliteration...which is the repetition of the same initial letter...that initial letter could be a vowel, you see
...."ThAt crAp snAps"
Once again no sense, but it works as a decent exponent for the situation.
Enjoy.

We're not trying to look smart. We just are. It comes naturally. And I am only 16. Don't you feel bad! (kidding, brotha). Try and control your jealously as it seeps through your pores....

the beatles had rap. the doors were like preachers. nu-metal guitarists have iommi as a main influence. how did they not pave the way for rap-metal as well.( not that it's a good thing)
