mesa boogie>fender?

whats better, ive played both
I know I want an all tube head. narrowed it down to the bass400+ and the bassman 300

Mesa boogie:
500watt(all tube) at 20 ohms(whatever the hell that means)
rack mountable
1300 u.s.
not sure about warranty

Fender:
300 watt(all tube)
not rack mountable
1300 u.s.
5 year fender warranty

pretty much, which one is more worth it.
lasts longer, durable, stay store quality longer?

Are you sure it's 20 ohms and not 2 ohms? Ohms are the resistance in the amp. The lower the ohmage, the more power you can get out of your amp (assuming you've matched your cabinets' ohmage to that of your head)

I'm pretty sure it'll be 2, not 20 ohms, as they go up exponentially (2, 4, 8, 16). Personally, I prefer Mesa Boogie over Fender, but that's just a personal choice. Mesa cabs are far superior (again, imo) than Fender cabs of equal size.

Hope this helps a bit.

Cheers.

Yea its 500 watts at 2 ohms. On the website its written "2Ohms" so I can see how he made the mistake. Just keep in mind that the 12 6L6's and 4 12AX7's will be about $250 to retube when it comes time. Honestly for that kind of money I would get something like the M-pulse 600. I owned the Bass 400 (early 80's, 6 6L6's instead of 12) and I much prefer the tone of the M-pulse. Tube amps are meant to be driven hard, so unless you are planning on playing a fuckin concert hall, all that tube power is going to waste. Ive owned both the Bass 400 and an Ampeg SVT-CL and I can tell that until you really get them cranked, (master above 6 or 7) you're wasting your time.

If you rackmount the Mesa, and put it in a nice flightcase, i'll be set for anything, the Fender would be more likely to break i'd guess.
