The easiest and best way to put artificial bass into a song?

Well, I doubt many have done this, but any suggestions are welcome.

Basically, i'm making a drum backing track in FL6 now, and in a few weeks it should be finished and I want to add bass in, as the original is recorded in a trio (guitar, bass, drums).

I know of two ways, both having complications.

a) FL6 has a few bass synths. The fretless bass synth is the sexiest. Thing is, I would have to write it all in Piano roll (quite hard) and I would not be able to add articulations such as slides, which are prominent in the song im doing.

b) Write it in a program such as Finale and export to midi. I have tried adding a midi to a .wav and after a day of frustration I gave up. I just could not make them work together, and the qualities were strongly affected. I tried this in Acid 4.

Any other reccomendations / ideas!?! Please!

Edit: I do have an OC-2, but it sucks ass and I have enough on my mind just learning the guitar, so I wont be learning the bass .

The bass simulator works fine if you don't want too fancy stuff and just single notes, using a octaver is also an option. The playing can be more basslike, but it sounds odd sometimes.

Just make a simple bassline on the guitar.Turn the bass and the middle up on your amp, and roll off the treble a tad, and use the OC-2.

You could get a program that converts midis to wavs. I use MID Converter 4.0.

Do the bass with GP5 and export it as wav.

How about using modeling software such as Amplitube and play the bass using your guitar? Plug your guitar straight into your mixer or computer, then go back in and use the modeling software to chage the voice of the track? Amplitube has a wicked sounding Ampeg SVT patch, and even has an 8x18 cab sim.
