help with recording equip...

hey, I'm getting into a little recording and was thinking about getting the line 6 guitarport riff tracker. All I want to do is record some original songs and put some drum tracks to it. but from reviews I've read the InstandDrummer is pretty limited. I'd like to make my own drum tracks instead of putting lars ulrich drumming behind the guitars. if anyone has any ideas (diff programs, diff setup, etc) it would be appreiciated. maybe I'm not choosing the right way to go about recording but its all I pretty much know at the moment....

I say just get Cubase and a USB recording interface. You can program awesome drum tracks in Cubase, and it doesn't hurt to have some good drum samples in your arsenal as well. Make sure you have a good soundcard too that supports ASIO [i.e. your onboard soundcard is definetly not gonna cut it.]
