Tips for starting band?
Hello,
I'm new over here and I already have a question. I just started a band and to become familiar with each other and the arrangements we wanted to play some covers. We want to play thrash metal so I think some thrash or/and heavy metal covers will be good.
Because we are jonly beginners do you maybe have some tips to cover?
Thanks

Yes I understand, but when I look at a song like Nuclear Assault - "Live, Suffer, Die" and see al pull offs I get a kinda "dizzy" because I don't play that long, but do you maybe have some tips to start out?

Don't be afraid to tackle the harder stuff, practice it smart and go for it. It's the only way you'll ever play like you want to play.

Just realize I want to play something because everytime I get stuck. For now I will start with Prowler from Iron Maiden.

Start with hard stufff. if you try to only pllay easier songs youlll never get better. try learning a song with hard timing for all of you it will help.

start with a short playlist. 3-5 songs. learn about three of them and then jam once a week. play them from start to finish. keep in mind who your potential audience will be. if and when you play live, keep it simple. most of the audience won't catch everything anyways.

It really depends on what type of thrash you want to play. Like do you want Athrax/Suicidal Tendencies/D.R.I. style stuff or stuff like Kreator, Sodom, Exodus, Rigor Mortis ect. But a bit more specific.

i dunno if ur a drummer a lot but b4 u go into all the crazy blast beats and shit like that (the real hardcore thrash) u can start out with something a little lighter (iron maiden is a good idea, but also mudvayne is pretty easy drum and guitar are anyway i dont know about bass) and then work your way up. also play what you love and stay(sic)

Bass is unison with guitars at Mudvayne (of course one octave lower), so that is no big deal. Iron Mayden is bit more difficult (!!) because they play quite speed-up. I have no idea how good you are, but keep it to music that is easy to play, like Slayer. When you and your band are more experienced, try things like Destruction. Good luck anyway!

We were talking about his band wanting to do some covers to get abit experienced so that they would write better songs for themselves. How can you make songs if you do not even know how to play a single song yet made?
