i just wanted to know... (Favorite CC songs)
sorry for the generic noob question, but i was just wondering what your favorite cannibal corpse song is.
i've only just got into CC, so that explains the whole "omgz, i cant believe i havent heard them before, im now a fan boy" attitude.
mine is they deserve to die from the wretched spawn
p.s. i feel like such a fan boy asking this question

The Wretched Spawn from the album of the same name. That was the album that got me into Cannibal Corpse, and that song stuck out.

Dead Human Collection is way up there for me, Decency Defied, Sentenced to Burn, and Hammer Smashed Face of course.

Well the albums I've heard are The Wretched Spawn, The Bleeding, and Kill, and from those three:
Decency Defied (people complain abut how simple it is, but that's why I love it)
Stripped Raped and Strangled (lyrics are great haha)
Barbaric Bludgeonings (just flat out rules)

Take a goddamn guess.
Most of the stuff I like is off of Gore Obsessed which was the first album I got from them. I like the bass line on Grotesque toward the end of the song.

Same here! I was just getting into Cannibal Corpse and I downloaded that song and knew I had to buy the CD. Of course the rest of the CD doesn't really sound like that. But it's still good.

Hell, no. I love that song. I love the intro with the bass. Real groovy and stuff, I think.
Solo is cool too.

Pounded Into Dust, Hammer Smashed Face, Necropedophile, Stabbed In The Throat and Addicted To Vaginal Skin were my most fav songs from these mofos. BUt these guys need to progress, I mean the drummer needs to progress, he sounds the same in every album = same blast beats, no variation, sometimes i wonder if my drum machine has more soul than that dude.

Yeah, he does sorta seem to be the one needing the most work. I think their strongest link is Alex Webster. Pat O'brien and the new guy can shred as well.

i cant believe no one really likes they deserve to die from the wretched spawn. thats my favorite CC song ever. i really love that bit that starts at 0.40 and finishes at 1.10. the drums, the vocals, the guitar and everything just goes really well together and it makes you wanna punch someone in the face. its fucking sick. the riffs have got the most fucked up rythm in that section which makes it so brutal.
BEST. RIFFS. EVER.

Barnes pwns nothing. The guy's got the vocal range of a broken muffler and the only thing that saved him back in the good old days from being seen as the one-dimensional, untalented cunt he's always been was the youth of the genre. With age came Fisher, a much better vocalist, and Barnes was rightfully relegated to the scrap heap with Ricky Rozz. With luck we'll see Mazurkiewicz there too soon enough; your drum machine probably does have more soul. Then again, if he goes the only thing stopping them from descending into technical bullshit will be Alex Websters unconscious urge to write good songs despite his rhetoric.
Off the top of my head, Gallery of Suicide, Centuries of Torment, Hammer Smashed Face, Necropedophile, I Cum Blood, From Skin to Liquid, A Skull Full of Maggots, Shredded Humans and This Thread is Redundant Disembowled Entrail Filth are my favorite CC Songs.

Wretched Spawn does rule but so does Gore Obseessed and Kill. Oh and PST is definitely right. Alex webster writes awesome songs (the time to kill is now, discipline of revenge) which are not so much about my kidneys and small intestines but about murder, revenge, and hate. He's a good metal lyricist and an excellent metal writer. not to mention the best metal bassist and like 5th best bassist because he studiesevery technique

Alex Webster is my favorite bassist. I like his basslines in (as already stated) Grotesque, The Disipline of Revenge, Fucked with a Knife, Hammer Smashed Face, and Gallery of Suicide.

Alex is a great writer but their drummer needs to speed it up and add more variation to compliment the guitars.

Yeah. That's what I thought, too. He sounds good, but c'mon dude.
Death's drummer is better.
Edit- forgot that Death sort of switches their members around alot, so I will say the drummer I heard off of the Symbolic album sounds better than Paul.

i cant imagine Cannibal Corpse with a different drummer. itll probably sound different with more technicality. i think Paul's simplistic drumming is a big part of Cannibal Corpse

I wasn't asking for a more technical drummer. I was asking for a better drummer.
To be totally fair, using the fact that they'll 'sound different' with a different drummer (no shit; that's the point), or that Paul's a big part of their sound, or anything along those lines, as a way of saying he shouldn't be replaced, would hold a lot more water for me if you people weren't down for the following lineup changes:
Bob Rusay for Rob Barrett
Chris Barnes for George Fisher
Rob Barrett for Pat O'Brien
Jack Owen for Rob Barrett
Paul's shitty and unimaginative drumming is no more integral to the CC sound than any of the above members' contributions (unless you think that the CC sound is, at least in part, necessarily shitty and unimaginative, which is a valid opinion).

True fact- Gene Hoglan has been an official member of 37% of every metal band and has played officially or unofficially with 62% of every band that has ever existed. Look it up. BNR it if you have to, motherfucker.
Also, Webster rules and his songwriting makes Cannibal Corpse- pretty much all other members are interchangable, except for Corpsegrinder, who rules more than most DM voxalists.
As for fav songs, I'm bored, so I'll play-
Living Dissection
Vomit the Soul
Beyond the Cemetery
Mummified in Barbed Wire
Bloodlands
Absolute Hatred
Orgasm through Torture
entire Gallery of Suicide album
The Spine Splitter
Unleashing the Bloodthirsy
Hacksaw Decapitation
Pit of Zombies
Hung and Bled
Worm Infested
most of The Wretched Spawn album
I really tried to keep that short.

Interchangeable, eh? This makes me think.
Replace the guitarists with Muhammed Suiçmez and Devin Townsend, maybe replace the drummer with George Kollias?

Well, I'm pretty sure Muhammed wouldn't be busting out into an arpeggio lead during Nothing Left to Mutilate. Just a hunch.
I meant interchangable with any other member, but I do feel it holds true to some degree within the metal community in general, especially with other DM guitarists. I mean, they are playing it how Alex writes it. There's not going to be a whole lot of variation there from one guy to the next.
Also, for the record, I'd prefer Pete Townsend to Devin. SYD are pretty good, but the Who ruled all over everything. Imagine if Pete and Alex collaborated on lyrics? "Ever since I was a young boy, I played the silver ball! From Soho down to Brighton, I must have KILLED THEM ALL!" Yeah...

Having Devin Townshend and Muhammad Suicmez in there would make no difference, since they'd just be doing what they were told. Which would probably be a good opportunity for Suicmez to learn what good songs are, but Devy actually deserves creative control.

Maybe having them in Cannibal Corpse would increase their capability of concentrating on good song writing without always concentrating on technicality and complexity.... which you, PST, must explain the difference between the two to me.

Well those bands are alright like Rattle Head and others but most of the cali dm scene is wanna be technical shit with appreggios left and right. Sweeps are kinda overrated.

I don't need to explain the difference. Devy writes complex, sometimes even sophisticated, music (and should therefore be allowed to have some creative control in his music) and Suicmez writes merely technical music (and should therefore chain his talents to a real songwriter). Simple.
And being in CC wouldn't help anybody get away from technicality. Like I said before, Webster's a good enough songwriter that he manages to write good songs despite the fact that he apparently is just trying to write more technical songs. One of the many, many artists who sets out to do something incredibly dumb but ends up doing something rewarding because he carries it around in him, and, as such, one of the many artists who, when he talks about his own art, only manages to highlight the things you should be ignoring.
Anyway, Alex isn't the only songwriter; O'Brien is explicitly there just to wank and doesn't have a soul to get dragged in by accident.

Dude its hilarious cuz alot of people dont like them. They tend to suck up to Eric, Deeds of Flesh and unique leader. And I even gave them a cool nick name; Super Monkey Broodalicious Go Go cuz their singer looks and acts like a monkey. He even tried to compare his band with Odious Mortem which was pathetic.
EDIT: Also, alot of bands here play this bullshit trend of deathcore faggotry. Every venue I go to see a decent band theres always a bunch of fags with their pirate eye patch made out of their bangs trying to play death metal. Its like its a trend now, fuck that.

It's my least favorite song on Gallery, which means I still like it more than almost any other song.
