saw celtic frost and dragonforce this week
celtic frost was actually pretty great, although you could tell which songs came from the crap cd's. still cant beat a good true metal show, and the crowd was what you'd expect from a frost show, long hair, tight pants, and demin (which is how a metal show should be)
dragonforce itself was great, nice live show. although the crowd was pretty horrible. it was sold out (friday show) and was 90% 14 year old nerdy kids which was bad because you'd expect an extreme crowd from an extreme metal show. also they played mostly new songs which i can understand because you can tell the crowd had no clue about ANY song that didnt come off inhuman rampage. haha on soldiers of the wasteland i swear when ZP held the mic to the crowd me and like literally ONE other guy knew the words.
i would have killed to have DF on wednesday instead of friday though, it was a little too poser packed for my tastes

Saw Celtic Frost last night, and they fucking kicked ass. They played so much old shit it was unbelievable. Goatwhore and Sunn 0))) also played. Half the audience left when Sunn 0))) played their 45 minute set of drone doom. I could feel my ears die and the earth shake, it was pretty crazy.

id love to catch sunn, but i dont know how much of that i could take. its supposed to be a physical experience

when i said "still cant beat a true metal show" i didnt mean frost couldnt beat one, i meant it was one.

They played nothing but songs off of Morbid Tales, To Mega Therion, Into The Pandemonium, and the new album when I saw them. Total old school greatest hits show from CF with about 3 new songs thrown in. They fucking ruled the stage.
And yeah Transient, Sunn 0))) was QUITE an experience. After they finished their set, a dude I was hanging with that evening turned over to me and said, 'I think I just got high without getting high.' They might have been boring to listen to, but they sure as hell were interesting to watch, and after a while it puts you in a trance.

I don't understand Dragon Force. I've heard some of their songs and saw the one video with fret wanking all over it. It sounds like hyped up Iron Maiden. The power metal stuff doesn't get along with me. Power metal reminds me of the Hair Metal days of the 80's. White snake and Kick Ax anyone?
