Head with Cab
Wow I haven't posted for a while! Here goes. I bought the Crate GT3500H head and I didn't have money for a cab, well not for a couple weeks but even then I still have other expenses i need to attend to so I might have to hold off on it for a while. Well I borrowed my friends cab and its the B-52 cab. It's the one that is 400 watts at 8ohms i believe. anyway. I was just wondering what your guys' opinions are are on the cab. I know it's not the best but it's what i have to work with until i can afford better. this is kinda a pointless thread, but i have always been wondering, it sounds ok to me, im just excited to finally have gotten the head. thanks guys

Congrats on the new amp. The cab is meh, but hey, its all you can use right now so you may as well enjoy it.

Cool thanks man! Yeah i live in an apartment so i haven't been able to crank it yet. But i'm waiting until tuesday for band practice \m/ but so far it sounds sweet! thanks again for the feedback.

Too bad its not hte St-412 b-52 cabinet. I want that thing pretty bad myself. Oh welli have a new celestion filled crate cabinet coming anyway. It doesn't have the vintage 30s in it but it should be decient.

It's solid state, you don't need to crank it to get good sounds my friend.  (You generally don't need to crank most high gain tube amps to get nice sounds either).

Heh, I know how you feel dude, I'm using a regular stereo reciever as a poweramp before I get the cash to buy a Carvin DCM-1000 or a decent tube poweramp. We do what we gotta do... and congrats on the head too, I always loved the sound of solid-state.

i dont even know if they make 2 ohms 412, but if they do it would be best. if not a 4 ohm cab works well.
the shockwave is 350 watts at 2 ohms and 220 at 4 ohms.
8 ohms is definitely not ideal.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I know 8ohms isn't the best, but like the others have said, you gotta do what you gotta do. Hopefully I'll have the matching can soon or something else, But until then, what I have now is definitely better than my old crate 2x12" fxt 120. Thanks again for all the comments.
