Most brutal album you own?
What would you say is the most brutal album you own?
Brutality is Law (Severed Savior) for me. I just wish the vocalist wasnt so monotonous :/

hmmm i would say its out of:
nile- annihlation of the wicked ( mostly just the faster tunes)
or
sympathy- abbysal throne ( crystal clear production but still very brutal mix of brutal death and black metal)

Hmm...you might as well have just named this thread "your favorite death metal CD" I would have to say either one of my Cannibal Corpse CDs, or Cryptopsy's "None So Vile". Demigod is pretty brutal too, just cause of the multi-tracked vocals.

No, he might have well not just named that thread that, because that is an entirely different subject, which has been done in different threads, as has this. Reduntant much?

Toss up between Origin's "Informatis", Disgorge's "PoIT", and whatever Devourment puts out next.

That's a great album for sure but I wouldn't say it's really all that brutal.

Its more of the same. And its not even as good. Benton has abandoned his trademark shrieks that made his first few albums so memorable that made him such a well rounded vocalist. Not only that, but theres never a moment of pause from the vocals. Theyre ALWAYS there, and they get awfully tiring awfully fast. WAY overdone
The songs themselves seem kinda bland to me. Some of the songs are kinda catchy and offer a bit of a hook but theres no real substance to em. Plus their whole schtick is losing their appeal and their lyrics are becoming a bit tiresome. The whole album is basically the same song redone 9 times
Its not a HORRIBLE album, and its not as bad as their previous two efforts, but I wouldnt call it anything more than average either :/

heavy is just the kind of riff where you make the metal face (fuck you i know you do it in your car as much as i do)
for brutal please see devourments' new album
fast chaotic crap that makes your ears hurt with breakdowns that are way heavier than standard metal breakdowns

It is difficult to put in to words... I'll give examples.
Heavy - Morbid Angel - Gateways to Annihilation, K0r|\|
Brutal - Suffocation - Despise the Sun, Origin (I usually associate it with fast)

one question to you alls;
Would you consider Death to be more brutal than CC? I haven't listened to much Death, but if Death is more brutal than CC, than in a week or so Symbolic (I think that's the album) will be my most brutal album in my collection. If not.... well who cares? I'm getting my first Death album! Man... This is what it must feel like to lose your virginity.

Yeah, brutal is like shooting a deer with a rocket launcher, (CC) rahter than with a rifle (Death).

im not really ultra brutal stuff, its fun to listen to occasionally, but there is so much lack of melody and it just becomes distorted mush after a while, the only brutal bands i really like are nile, suffocation, and necrophagist because they still throw melody into the mix. Cryptopsy is the only really heavy band i like and half of that is the musicianship, flo is stinkin incredible!!!

Would you consider Death to be more brutal than CC? I haven't listened to much Death, but if Death is more brutal than CC, than in a week or so Symbolic (I think that's the album) will be my most brutal album in my collection. If not.... well who cares? I'm getting my first Death album! Man... This is what it must feel like to lose your virginity.

death is a little too melodic to be considered the essence of brutal

Last Days Of Humanity - Putrification In Progress
and
Last Days Of Humanity - In Advanced Haemorrhaging Conditions
If you don't own them, then you don't own the most brutal records EVER.

You jackasses, this is your most brutal death metal album. Subjective, but some albums such as "Obscura - Gorguts" are not brutal and you guys are just naming off favourite albums. Blood Red Bass knows (the unfortunate) score. Now be reasonable, assfuckers.
Anyway, the most brutal album I own...
...Is definantly Internal Suffering's (2006) 'Awakening Of The Rebel'
That beast kicks my ass so inconcievably hard. I'm pondering whether it's a drum machine but it sounds pretty fucking natural...any clarification would be nice?
Edit;
Cunty Shunt - thanks for your input. I haven't heard those guys. Could I ask whether they are a brutal 'punch' or brutal 'mush'? ... brutal mush is when guitars lose effect being way too distorted and underproduced, just doesn't do it for me, a damn shame with so many albums I own. Awakening Of The Rebel is a fucking brutal 'punch' if you ask me, I fucking love it. I'd reccomend you hear it, but I assume you have
Disgorge's CTF would have to be #2 on most brutal album I own and definantly in my top 10 favourite albums ... I fucking LOVE IT.
She Lay Gutted and Cranial Impalement are also assfuckingly nice.
And of course Origin and Brodequin... man this thread has made me cream
Edit2;
Cannibal Corpse aren't brutal. Lyrically..yes...in a gay way, Musically, nah... pretty standard Death Metal.

It's pretty much "mush." It's very distorted, but you could hear the guitar on IAHC (I tabbed the whole album). On the other hand, Putrification In Progress is basically a wall of distorted, bass heavy non-stop blastbeats (almost literally non-stop for 24 minutes :eek
You might not like it, but give it a listen if you're still intrigued.
I've got to give Awakening Of The Rebel another listen, you've inspired me to pop in in my car today.

to answer Compelled to Lacerate, don't look at Individual Thought Patterns through Persevereance for brutality. Its more like catchy and awesome and jsut Death. Leprosy and Spiritual Healing however are less melodic and are more heavy (leprosy is really good despite what anyone says), Human is almost just in between melodic and heavy. Just check it all out, it's all amazing and no matter what album you buy the leads will always rip

I don't know if anyone mentioned Despised Icon but their album The Healing Process is damn brutal...more than Faith Hill's 3rd album. Its got a fair share of breakdowns, loooow growls, pig squeals and screams, but its not as monotonous as some other extremely brutal bands. In my opinion there can be such a thing as too much brutality...yes thats right.

Indeed. It's not very interesting after a while though.
I'm checking out all the other reccomendations people are making in this thread aswell, great bands.

agreed, sometimes bands take it too far and forget to make MUSIC! and just want to make something so brutal its more brutal than any other album out there and its just uber heavy mush!

dude if u were a fan of their old shit, u would understand why i say that. The album has gone too overboard as far as those wanna be technical riffs and the mix aint got that IN YO FACE sound like their debut EP.

Suffocation - Despise the Sun
Cryptopsy - NSV/BMF
Devourment - Molesting the Decapitated
Skinless - Progression Towards Evil
Incantation - Onward to Golgotha
Deeds of Flesh - Trading Pieces

You should tell a kid that some really gory satanic grindcore is a christian band, then cos he won't actually hear what they're singing you can laugh at him when he joins you in hell.
Oh and the most brutal CD I've got is probably something by Nile.
