I've noticed that most metal bands are heavy smokers, as well as other musicians/fans of other kinds of music. But when metalheads do it, it's a bit different. What kind of cigarettes do you smoke? Like what brand and what label of that brand? (ex, Kool FK, Marlboro Red.. )

I don't smoke. I don't think it's dirty or nasty, and the smell reminds me of my grandparents so it doesn't gross me out. But I just don't see the point in even starting such a habit.

I smoke cigarettes. I have been a smoker longer than I have been playing bass. It's terrible for you. I can go several days without cigarettes if I'm just at home and not doing much. If I'm near them or drinking, it makes me crave them heavily. One of these days though I'll throw them away..I definitely don't wanna be 30-40 and still be smoking.


I smoke Dumaurier Regular....canadian cigarettes completely pwn Marlboros/camels. They are a mixed blend of tobacco, and do not taste like a cigar with a small filter.

the nicest cigarettes i smoke are called triple 5's and i believe they are an import from either england or france (let's just say europe to be safe). they taste fuckin delicious. however, when i dont want to spend 5+ dollars on a pack of cigs, ill go for camel turkish royal or filters. i used to smoke skydancers to save money. those things are fuckin terrible.

i hate fuckin menthol. the only pleasant experience i have ever had smoking them was under the influences of some other drugs besides pot and beer.

yeah, Djarums are my favorite brand. I love the Cherry ones most though, they have sentimental value. Next in line is Blacks, then Vanilla. Tasty stuff! The only store that sells them, closes at 8, so if im drunk, i might wind up buying Camel Turkish Gold.

I hardly ever smoke though. a pack will last me (by myself) a month, if i dont give more than half away. I give away much less Djarum then Camel. None of my good friends are heavy smokers, so when we meet up and get drunk, any cigs between the 3-5 of us get nearly finished off, or the following meet. We really only smoke after drinking.

I havnt had a cig in 3 or 4 weeks. When i go to the beach, i love to smoke. Lately, all ive smoked is weed. I havnt smoked that in 2 days, and if a week passes, im quitting altogether so i can get a job sometime.

I don't smoke, but I have tried it at the humble age of seven. I nearly blacked out then, and it was at a campfire I built with several other children and I nearly fell into it face first. At the age of 16 I got plastered and someone gave me a cig (which is fucking dumb because I was on the pill at the time and pill + tobaco = blood clots). I couldn't smoke it so I ate it instead (or so I've been told, that night ended up being a blank).

I can't smoke anything, and hate it when people smoke around me. I hate the smell and the smoke makes me cough like a bitch and gives me headaches. I also can't afford the rather pricey habit. When smoking was made illeagal indoors at local bars and clubs I was very happy because before that I would come back home stinking after seeing a band. My hair stank of weed and tobaco for 3 washes after one gig before the ban, eww.

it's still like that at this place here called the muse. i go to see origin or something and smell terrible afterwards. they just made my college's campus smoke-free save for a few designated parking lots, though; that pleases me. now i don't have to hold my breath when i incidentally have to follow a smoker across campus....

its like realizing you left your house unlocked when you are at work or school. you think "fuck, i gotta go back now, shit i fucked up" thats what its like, you cant concentrate in the stuff your doing, you are anxious, you start to get pissed,you cant stop thinking about it.

that kind of uncertainty is pretty close.

also unlike serious hard drug addiction, there is no immediate consequence of relapsing. someone recovering from herion and coke will instantly spiral back into the kind of drug intake they are familiar with which usually results in losing everything including a roof over your head. resuming a pack a day smoke habit aint gonna threaten your life, your job, everything. the damage is exponential.

this is why you hear that cigarettes are as hard as any narcotic to quit.

i myself have cut down to 6-7 cigarettes a day from a pack, its hard to wean off this shit.

People do self-destructive but relaxing things to relieve stress quickly when they don't have the time to do it with leisure; most people need similar amounts of relaxation as work, and when you have less time for the former you have to up its intensity. So, once again, just as people smoke more when their workload's increased, and those who've quit tend to relapse when they've got to deal with greater stress than usual, and just as all the world's most famously hard-drinking people are also its hard-working ones, he'll have an easier time quitting when his schedule's open than he does when it's busy.

It would really be nice if the pressure that leads people to smoking in the first place would also lead them away from it, though.

basically...if a person is going to successfully quit...they have to REALLY want to quit. too many times i've seen people "quit" but really truely didn't want to and it failed. few times i have seen people that truely wanted to quit and did. you either will or can't....no half assed middle of the road shit.

I only have one on a rare occasion, like once every 1-3 months, getting addicted is a really bad idea... but they are pretty cool in moderation.

tonight i was driving in my car, and i had a cigarette. it was very nice, and heres why: i usually NEVER have a cigarette when im sober, its pretty much every time when im drunk. i was more aware of the relaxation it gave to me. but i still have to say, i dont know how anyone gets addicted. i mean, i liked it, but i dont "crave" it. and ive been having a cig here and there for the past 6 years. IMO, addicts shouldnt necessarily be addicted. i suppose since its legal, its a lot easier to do. i mean, if alcohol were legal, id probably be drinking a lot more, which would be a SHIT LOAD. but what im saying is, i liked being relaxed with the cigarette, but its still not something im going to do all throughout the day.
