Dead 5150

Hi all,

My 5150 mark 2 just corpsed it. Cut out whilst I was playing, the green standby button just faded out and so does ound. I can get power in the head (the red 'on' button) but the standby button does nothing. The back feels pretty hot and has a new smell to it:/

Anyone know what's up with it? I'm hopin it ain't fucked...

Cheers

It's a 5150, they will always have feedback just like most or every high gain amp there is out there. Just buy a noise suppresser and it will go away. And for the 5150 that won't work, are the tubes glowing at all and if they are what colour are they?

high volume = feedback. DUH. stand back from your amp, you dont need to hump it while you're playing

oh dude, check fuses... or... stuff... does it make any sound anymore? or is it just silent now...

Take it it to tech. It could be a burnt cap, could have done the powersupply in. Take it to the tech and let him work it out.

More than likely you had a power tube short and blow a fuse. The amp has a bunch of fuses inside. New tubes and a fuse should get you up and running again.

Feedback could be many things including standing to close to a loud amp, crappy pickups, or a microphonic preamp tube. Those are some of the most common causes.

Maybe you need to summon an new cacodemon to reside in your amp?

that, or it's probbably a fuse problem.

Fuck me, it's been around 5 weeks since it perished. How I miss it's sweet sound.

It's finally going to a technician in a couple of hours, I found a guy who does it as a hobby so has a flat rate, beyond needed parts etc. I'll be sure to post some updates etc once my child returns
