Ibanez tone knob won't stay on
I've just pulled the tone knob off the pot from my ibanez rg270 and now that everything is back together I cant get the tone knob to go back on and stay on, it's a strange type of knob with just a short steel shaft with some small strange indents in the end. I can post some pics if you need em.
Am I doing something wrong by simply pushing it back on? I've seriously been trying for hours to get it to stay and i'm two seconds away from destroying it lol, thanks heaps for your help guys.

I know Ibanez knobs and the knob itself will usually have its own screw.
Make sure the metal part under the knob isn't squashed together - it needs to look something like this : I_I instead of /_\
That way, you can match up the knob's screw with this H-shaped indentation and make the screw go through the gap. It should stay on fine. Regular screwdrivers are too big to fit on the screw though, you'll need a tiny flathead.

Nah the knob itself doesn't have a screw in it i think it's a different type and i've possibly wrecked it.

Is it one of those with a groove in the hole so it grips on the shaft??
I dunno how you could've fucked up a fucking knob.

Are the two splines of the pot shaft pushed together? There should be a gap wide enough to slide a plectrum in.
If the splines are pushed together they won't grip the inside of the knob (if it's just a push fit one).

Has it got a split down the middle of the shaft?
Just put a flathead screwdriver in the gap and slightly bend it apart.
It has probably just pushed together, meaning the knob will slide off. Happened on my guitar.

I sorta fixed it, i ended up pulling apart the pot entirely, there was just some piece of plastic in it that the steel part just sorta clips into. It had come loose inside the pot. It's still pretty loose but meh it'll do. Thanks everyone for the help
