Samael
i got this Century Media compilation CD. it had a ton of bands. some of them were total crap (i think Krisiun is one of the worst bands i have ever heard, and Stuck Mojo blows too). and there were some bands i was surprised at. i thought they would be just a brutal band with a growler, but bands like Tiamat and Sentenced were really mellow and cool.
now for my point!
There was a song by Samael on there called Supra Karma. it was so cool. i had no idea they were such an "electric" sounding band. They kick ass
any other fans of em? or tiamat and sentenced fans?
know any other cool metal bands that are so keyboard and sampler heavy (like Theatre of Tragedy or Samael)? or any mellow bands like anathema, sentenced and tiamat (dont say opeth!)

Samael is great ... I like them a lot .. but not the newer stuff ... in their last CD they went too much Industrial
Old Samael is awesome ... they are the the band that got me into Metal
I also like Old Tiamat ... the music is great ...

mellow, like a softer, easier sound like newer anathema and theatre of tragedy on the album "aegis"

Samael's pretty cool.....not amazing though.
Krisiun isn't that bad either.

don't mind a bit of Tiamat or Samael myself.
although, with a name like Tiamat...named right after the great ancient worm, She who commands over the Absu and even would make the mighty Kutulu quiver....arn't all that full on...with a name like that, you'd expect some extremely in your death-grind band or something.

Iīve got two Samael CDs (exodus & exposure, i think) and i donīt think they are so great. As you mentionned to elctrical.
And Krisiun is quite good, but i donīt like the drumming. On, the songs i listened to, the drumming sounds like a poor drum computer.

isn't a tiamat just a 3 headed dragon?

Tiamat is the 'female satan' from the ancient mesopotamian faiths, and is the Great Worm in the Necronomicon (faith of the dead...none of the mythos bullshit) which originated in the mesopotamian region anyway, and was highly practiced by the Sumerians. its quite a popular theme in the world of metal.
in ancient hebrew text's, Tiamat was also known as the Chaos Dragon (which might be wat your talking about) but is still the exact same Tiamat as in the ancient magick arts (Great Worm <-> Chaos Dragon, practicaly the same thing)....Tiamat is even associated with Leviathan (Satan) itself and sometimes even Kutulu. although...Tiamat is the female counterpart to Kutulu.

Leviathan is just another name for Satan.
but its funny how things get twisted....
Kutulu is said to dead but dreaming under the ocean....and he can sometimes associated with Tiamat who is the Great Worm....so Kutulu (who is also just another Satan) could be the giant worm of the sea you speak of

hehe....i went over board after i was merely making the simple point that you'd think with a name like Tiamat you'd expect some insane thrashing death metal

Personally Tiamat sounds kind of gay.....and since i didn't know it's meaning, i assumed they were just some mellow metal band with "keys" that suck.

OK, weīre going already off-topic.
So, i can give my shit into it:
I know Leviathan just from Final Fantasy as a sea worm. I know hardly anything about the Necronomicon. But i heard many Final Fantasy beasts are from that book, like Shiva, Quezacotl and so on.

...and that's how Hobbes intended it too, so I think you just might be serious. Twat.

I really wanted to like Stuck Mojo, because there was actually a black guy, rapping properly, with real metal! Real rap/metal!
Unfortunately, it just flat-out didn't work.
