guitars with great sustain
Hey guys.. I feel like it's time for me to get a new guitar.. this one sucks. It's old and just too cheap for it's own good.. I'm sure i'll keep it around for practice.. anyways.. I need to get a guitar that has some pretty good sustain.. My guitar doesn't have hardly any and it's a pain to play a solo of any kind having the note die before you get to the next. I really like Gibson. I was thinking a Les Paul.. i've always liked their bodies.. I've actually never played one though.. Only an epiphone Anyways.. I want to stay away from the strat style body.. that's what I have now and i'm just kind of sick of looking at it personally.. Any info would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks

the epiphones i've played were SG and Les Paul custom replicas.. I've played a few Jacksons and I didn't like them too much.. but I'm pretty sure they were lower models.. How different are Epiphones from Gibsons? I know the pickups are probably different.. but the sound.. I love the Les Paul body.. and if a replica isn't bad then I wouldn't mind getting one.. but if it's not even close to a real Les Paul i'd rather just get the gibson

i guess that you might get a guitar with EMG - 81, 85 or 89 ...../the pickups might be of importance there in sustain....also that the guitar is one piece, that helps with the sustain..../

Okay, that's what I figured.. but does anyone know the difference between a Gibson Les Paul.. or an Epiphone Les Paul? I know the wood in the body and the pickups are different.. But has anyone played both and compared them to eachother?
