Some cool breakdowns that came to my mind:
Guttural Secrete - Reek of pubescent despoilment (1:19)
Bolt Thrower - The Killchain (0:22)
Disgorge - Enthroned abominations (0:44)
Devourment - Masturbating at the slab (2:25)
Severe torture - Butchery of the soul (0:29)

Devourment - Pretty much anything off Butcher the Weak
Martyr - Speechless and Carpe Diem
Neuraxis - Clarity
Devourment win this when it comes to headbanging, but otherwise there's better.

As much as I enjoyed that, I couldn't help but note that it would have been so much more appropriate and awesome in a Manowar thread.

continued...
Suffocation- Liege of Inveracity (as my buddies have mentioned)
Suffocation- Habitual Infamy (3:02-3:24)
Suffocation- Reincremation (0:52-1:12)
Suffocation- Jesus Wept (1:07-1:47)
Suffocation- Pierced from Within (1:19-1:58, 2:19-3:02)
Suffocation- Thrones of Blood (2:30-3:17)
Suffocation- Suspended in Tribulation- none of the breakdowns are great, but they all build toward AWESOME fucking riffs... plus the outro is at about halfspeed and kicks ASS
Suffocation- Torn into Enthrallment (3:43-4:12)
Suffocation- Devoid of Truth (1:31-...)
Suffocation- Despise the Sun (1:57-2:25)
There are tons of other miscellaneous songs by miscellaneous bands that have breakdowns or interludes that I love that aren't on my mind right now, so I'll post 'em as I hear 'em. Morbid Angel and Monstrosity are only two bands that I obsess over who overindulge (over-self-induge?) themselves on breakdowns, so I'm sure sometime in the next few days I'll have some more to post for the two or three people who might care.

when i saw decrepit birth they covered this song live, with as much vigor as suffo played it (even faster...)
i asked if how they learned it and they said a combination of tabs and their own ear. so either you or chris taught the guys in decrepit something

they're typically played in half time and sound slower. if not, they're harder to differentiate from the rest of the song.

A breakdown is where like, about half way through the song the snare drum gets a little bit slower, usually and the guitars slow down.

Basically, if it isn't the intro, the verse, the chorus, the outro, or the solo it is an interlude. Though I guess the solo could be counted as an interlude.

That means they didn't care much for my tab. No wonder 22 people combined to give it less than three. All this time I thought it was just someone who was out to make my tabs look bad, and meanwhile, it was Decrepit Birth!

not sure if anyone said this, but i think the breakdown in Top Gun from Bury Your Dead is amazing, can't remember the time it happens exactly, but its a little past the middle after the bass solo, its so sweet. I also like the breakdown in Theres No Business to be Done on a Dead Planet by All Shall Perish, another good one. I'm kinda new to heavy metal and i like it alot so i been trying to ask people some really good ones, cuz i just love breakdowns.

Celtic Frosts new album has to win this thread, I mean, come on, every single song has an IMMENSE breakdown or ambient interlude between.

Cannibal Corpse - 'Murder Worship' (1:39).
That riff amazing and the drums also sound heavy as hell. I'm surprised no one else has mentioned it (at least I don't think they have).
Rammstein - 'Rammstein' (3:43 - Live Aus Berlin Version).
Slayer - 'Disciple' (2:52)
And last but not least - Angel of Death!
