Put the Lead channel Pregain on 5 or 6.
Make sure you have some Mid in your EQ, and go easy on the bass and Treble.
Post gain has to be around 3 or higher to really push the amp into sounding good. It's not meant to be played quietly.
Resonance should be somewhere before half way, and Presence after half way (to taste basically).
Your harmonics should be fine.
I'm guessing you bought the amp used? Maybe you should get it serviced and check the tubes are ok. But that said, they are probably fine if you are happy with the output/sound for rhythm stuff otherwise.

Sorry for hijacking the thread. but is a 5150 or a 6505 ( they're the same I know ) good for brutal death or should I invest in something different. I need a good backup amp and for garage playing

They are great for death metal. They can stay very tight unless you crank the lead gain.

find a band called Splatterhouse. I think they have a myspace.
About the pinch harmonics, rg pickups blow, personally, i only like them for low gain shred stuff... New pups will make it sextastic.

ok so i finally got used to the pinch harmonic sound of my 5150 its probably cause i was used to playing with my v amp hooked to the pc. I also have another question who out there has a 5150 and what the best things u like about the amp and what are the things u dislike about it?

Very general comment, powersound, infinity and v8's for example, are all so different quality and tone ranged.

Likes:
cheap, reliable, great tone (especially with a boost in front of it), many mods available if you have the cash, definately the one of the best in it's price range.
Dislikes: very popular (since every one and their mother has one, you'll sound like 50% of the metal bands out there), shared EQ, not all the gain on tap is usuable, can be a little loose in the bottom end at times (fixable)

Likes: tone has BODY, is very aggressive sounding, cheap and reliable, and a little less heavy than most heads...
Dislikes: sometimes the high end is harsh, but i'm playing out of GT-75s.
