The big problem I have is trying not to sound too blunt, but it's hard to do. I like being up front with everything because I hate reading (and of course writing) those kind of poetic lyrics that some bands write that I can't comprehend. I'm dense when it comes to poetry and all the symbolism and crapola in it.

I hear that i feel exactly the same way. I think the standard bands i listen to find a happy medium inbetween those, i think i lean (or at least used to trying not to) towards the side of blunt. I dont' write BLUNT lyrics.. but the point of the lyrics to me at least was pretty obvious. I'm trying to use more methods of attempting to get what i'm saying out other than just saying it.

You might as well not worry about being blunt. Actually, a good place to look for what you might want to go for are all those fantasy and Tolkien-inspired lyrics out there; you're basically doing the same thing with a moderately different mythology, so that's not a bad template.

You should really try to avoid swearing in a Star Wars song. As far as I can tell, all the profanity in that world is made up and vaguely reminiscent of 30's movie substitutions for profanity. In any case, if you're not going to write it as they're written, I don't really see the point to this.

To be honest that was a horrible example. For instance kind of brings up something i heard in my philosophy class today. If you want to make an impact with an argument, build up the other side strong and THEN break it down with your opinion and analysis. You completely failed to do that. Like my professor said, is there much impact to building up an argument of straw that you can just blow away? Not really.

Profanity.... to be honest in decient lyrics there isn't ALMOST no place for.. Now i'm saying almost because i think sometimes it can fit. But for the most part its something Slipknot would do, and their lyrics are just seriously horrible. Or any Nu-metal actually. They show their lack of creativity with extensive profane words.

Well I just read tons of stuff, from the line of the Sith to Kyle Katarn and Dash Rendar (I remember him from years ago on the N64 in Shadows Of The Empire) to the Yuuzhan Vong invasion to a scientific perspective on the Sarlacc... And Boba Fett surviving being swallowed by the one at Carkoon, to the nature, attributes and properties of the Force.
