The Empath moves to me in dreadful parallels,
Fraction by fraction forces himself into my position,
never fails to remain cold and clinical,
to know but not to feel is the way of The Empath,
and he will never stray from this paradigm...
The Sympath sets up trick mirrors,
flawlessly mimics my every move,
radiates dry warmth like a limelight lamp,
altogether too bright and artificial...
to feel but not to know is the way of The Sympath,
his methods are unquestionable.
And The Sympath for me cries a sea of tears,
And The Empath chastizes me for every mistake,
And The Sympath swallows me with his ignorance,
And The Empath calmly finishes his thesis (on me).
The Empath is appaled by my weakness,
instructs me on my every flaw,
keeps meticulous records of my thoughts and movements,
maps the hallways of my ego.
To know but not to feel is the way of The Empath,
this fact is unchangeable.
The Sympath swears that he understands,
Pours his feelings out most zealously,
glues the cracks of my mind with his honey-like utterance,
fills the void of me with the sawdust of his thoughts.
to feel but not to know is the way of The Sympath,
and this is indisputable.
To know but not to feel is the way of The Empath,
He will smother me with his callousness,
To feel but not to know is the way of The Sympath,
And he will drown me in ignorance X2
To know but not to feel is the way of The Empath,
To feel but not to know is the way of The Sympath,
To know but not to feel is the way of The Empath,
To feel but not to know is the way of The Sympath,
And thus will be forever.

This was indeed quite interesting. I'm wondering, does it refer to persons - well, conceptual that is - or something within?

It's a comparison of empathy and sympathy. A lot of people will emply that they want empathy (unbiased view of their situation, complete knowlege of how it is to be in their shoes, unnacompanied by compassion) but in reality crave sympathy (mirrored feelings, but no knowlege of the person's situation). I was just thinking about the pros and cons of both.
