well i'm only 16 but have been listening to metal for aorund 7 years now. my first metal band was Metallica, i got into them at boy scout camp. went home and got Load, black album and kill em all. the other metal bands that i got into when i was like 12 were black sabbath and white zombie, and slayer too. now since i've had the interent for about 2 years, it has really helped me get into a lot of other bands.

When i first got into music, i listened to stuff like Silverchair, I Mother Earth, Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine.....that kind of shit.
Then i heard Metallica, and wanted heavier stuff. Since then i've been a metalhead.

I guess I grew up to stuff like Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, Yardbirds, Bluesbreakers, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Cream, Blind Faith, Steppenwolf, Deep Purple, Santana, and, to some extent, Soulfly and Deftones. Right after that I got into much of what I'm in now, but since I'm in that now, I didnt really grow up with it, did I? Unless I'm not grown up enough yet, and this is what I'm growing up to, in which case, y'all should have at least a vague idea of what I like.

I admit I've also loved Offspring since Smash. And Green Day. But I think they've lost most of what made their music good.

Well I was kinda weird. I listened to a lot of 60's stuff, due to my family but I heard Metallica and I was "hooked". I listened to them for a short while, then I started listening to heavier (Amorphis, etc), but I still yearned for more. So it progressed from 60's to my-now tastes of Dimmu, Bodom,Filth etc

When I was little my brother used to play all kinds of the usual 80s metal stuff, Metallica, Megadeth, Napalm Death, Suicidal Tendencies, Slayer, Anthrax, etc. I used to yell at him to turn it off. Then in 8th grade I started listening to stuff like Pantera, Collective Soul, Offpsring, GWAR, 311, Prong, etc. Then I moved here to Houston and joined Columbia House and picked up a lot of cds including King Diamond (said metal blade records, thought it'd give it a try). After that I started doing Iced Earth and all kinds of the good metal. I still listen to all the stuff I used to listen to, what my brother used to play, and what I listen to now.

Well, I grew up with Metallica(it is still the best band ever!!! In my opinion that is), AC/DC, Kizz, alot of rock(stuff from 50's, 60's and 70's), classical, Green day and some bands I don't remember the names of. Local bands that is. I still listen to all the bands above. Plus alot of other stuff. METTALICA KICKS ASS!(Don't throw that big rock at me, NO STOP arrgh....)

my older sister used to listen bands like iron maiden, accept, judas priest, motorhead etc, so that's what i grew up with. that got me into the heavier music. first big influence was metallica, especially "master of puppets".

it all started with the 90ies stuff with me....first listened to fear factory on the mortal kombat soundtrack, and i got addicted to it at once...then came bands like old machine head, sepultura, pantera...all the major, non-cheesy metal bands the 90ies had...so i guess it was some kind of reverse start for me, from that stuff in the beginning (which i still love) to death - and classic metal (metallica, slayer..no iron maiden)...grind / hardcore is fine with me, too.. i prefer more complex stuff now ( opeth, etc.)...and i listen to a lot of swedish stuff.
a reason i got involved with way more kinds of metal is maybe, that all the bands i liked in the beginning somehow "died"..old stuff rocks, though

When I was little I listened to classic rock, and that was all. I liked Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Cream, The eagles, etc. When I turned 13 I became interested in metal. My favorites were metallica, Iron Maiden, Anthrax, Megadeth. Right now my two favorite metal bands are megadeth and Metallica....so not much has changed.
