Vinnie Paul Back On Beat!
The recently rumored band will feature Mudvayne members Chad Gray on vocals and Greg Tribbett on guitar, along with Nothingface's Tom Maxwell on guitar and Jerry Montano on bass. Vinnie Paul will of course handle the drums.
In a bulletin that briefly ran on Nothingface's MySpace page, Montano said that "The five of us have been working our asses off on our 'Top Secret' project," that the new material the group has been working on "is amazing," and that their album should be out in the spring, followed by a U.S. tour.
The name for the group has yet to be officially confirmed

Sounds interesting...

Sounds fucking gay. I never was really that much a Vinnie Paul fan, but he was ok. Now adding the Mudvayne guys to the mix...it's gonna be melodic garbage.

Never listened to Nothingface, but I do love Mudvayne and Pantera. Can't wait.

If you like Mudvayne then you'll like Nothingface. They are one of the better breeds of nu bands, but still sub-par in my opinion

That sounds positively un-brutal.

i cant imagine this being good. the only people in mudvayne i'd be after are the bassist and drummer. the rest of the band is questionable at best.

So you basically don't like the half that will be on this recording.

This would be awesome if it was 6 years ago. But now Greg just writes lame nu-metal and Chad has taken on an emo-esque edge, which really isnt an edge at all. More of a rounded phallic shape.

Mudvayne's lastest album wasn't too bad, but you are right. They should pull away from that direction. I liked their first two albums LD50 and The Beginning of all things to End the best.
I wonder if this new project of Vinnie's is going to cover any Pantera songs. WOuldn't you think so?

Having a third string band of vinnie's cover pantera songs without Dime would be nothing short of blasphemous. Damageplan only did it at live shows a few times I think.

I hope he doesn't cover any Pantera songs even at live performances. As much as I like Pantera, if you're in a new project, stick to your new project. YOu don't see Slipknot playing any Stone SOur songs or vice versa, right?
Plus, as good as I think Greg is on guitar, no way could he play any of Dimebag's solos.

I wonder if this is the Mudvayne guys realising that the bottom's dropped out of the nu-metal horse cadaver they've been floggin' and are now gonna play metal 'old skool style' and claim they've always been metal 'in their heart 'all along and not because it's trendy

Just a little thing; My sister's ex once told me (we were discussing bands and I brought up mudvayne) that mudvayne took alot of metallica's riffs and used them in their music, and they are like metallica fused with slipknot..... He also used to bomb himself smoking weed and stuff, so he's not reliable.
dunno if you guys see it, but they sound nothing like metallica. I don't even think they sound like slipknot.
