i wrote this after drinking alot of coffee while a bit sleep deprived. i was fucking laughing my ass off at my lyrical genius.


now it dont look so good. i guess the gist of it was that people who consider themselves a proffesional musician usually are fucking rubes ripe for being made fun of. let me break it down.

typical "pro" musician, im familiar with this kind of drummer because they keep guitar center alive.

-middle aged,usually living in some suburban town. has no musical school credentials, no real recording and studio experience,has never dealt with a serious label,has never took the show on the road and on top of that plays like shit.

-into usually 60s blues/rock, has no real musical identity, worships guys like bohham,moon,mitchell,baker and refuses to listen to anything modern because it is not safe enough to have that legendary status among fanboy musicians.

-learned to imitate the above drummer styles and continue playing nostalgic music adding nothing new. on top of this they are totally ignorant of actual music scenes and how it all works. the fact that as a musician you have to do something new,take risks and network with musicians,bands,local labels,venues, you have to show them you can do things youself like touring,recording,grow a following outside the bar band circuit. not treat everyone with disdain and act like its a battle of the bands high school contest.

-a weekend warrior type who works a real 9-5 job,401K shit. threy usually own a computer and now plague musician message boards, not here there tho. i never got the pro vibe from any MT poster.

-married,owns a house,owns like 10 drumsets and tons of dumb shit, lives buried in debt and doesnt realize what they do is a hobby, not a career. as a natural defensive mechanism they espouse the "pro" title to themselves when posting "drummer available" ads. they cant keep a band because they find people like themselves.......totally tied down to the world.

-will never get anywhere in music because the urge to play in GB or cover band. ,they live in a fucking fantasy world where just around the corner, possibly at any given dive bar they play at, at the right moment some big league record exec. is gonna walk thru the door and give them the once in a lifetime deal. so this bullshit,half-assed "career" will translate straight into money,riches,fame.

-will never be in a band that tours,has any significant releases. because thier idea of hard work is laughable, they are totally delusional about what it takes to be a working band.


ok, so i was think these type of dudes out there, in thier own heads,in thier own fantasies of rockstardom, think of themselves like intergalatic conquerers. but i guess i kinda failed. oh well

I think it's a good concept, but maybe you need to revamp what you've written to get that across more. I think it's a heck of an idea. Why don't you get into it a little more and see what you can come up with? Maybe a little more tie-in to the loser-come-lately to the head-in-space idea.
