Cryptopsy and Nile are of course some that come to my mind. and then just goin on the solos and the like: Children of Bodom, Slayer (I can't even touch those damn things), and I'd probably Cannibal Corpse's bass player way up there.

bah slayer isnt technical, sure there fast and good but really there solos are a bit sloppy, the guy from children of bodom has some great runs, like on black widow, ahh that last riff is a turn on.

chuck schuldiner of Death, well i consider him to be Death, he rules that band, well ruled. alex skolnick, first 4 testament albums, is very good, and so is his replacement james murphy.

you guys heard the new decapitated album? Its just genious, the songs are ok, but just the guitar just leaves you in awe, great album check it out. There first album, winds of creation wasnt good at all, but they where only 14! I Think there only about 16 - 18 now tho, check it out - nihility!.

i'm not much of a fan of them, but i really reckon Children of Bodom have some of the most complex guitar work i've ever heard. Nile for its sheer brutality and speed, whilst actualy playing REAL things and not just slop.
Morbid Angel for being able to write MORBID sounding (shit sounds like its purposly going off key now and then and sluring alot of the leads together) tunes unlike many of the other generic death metal bands. (my example.....GOD OF EMPTINESS!)
Opeth for the amazing and technical compositions. (even if you don't like them, you cant deny it)
someone already mentioned cryptopsy, and i'd agree with that, they are some thought out riffs.
and ofcourse, the mighty Arcturus, Peccatum, and Borknagar. not so much the guitars, but the technical factor of their compositions just fly off the scales!

Gorguts is technical....maybe not difficult, but the notes and riffs they come up with are far more technical than most bands.
Cephalic Carnage is also somewhat technical. Very cool shit.

As i remember right "Thorns" is quite impressive.
And of course "Shining of Kliffoth". The drummer is damn technical, esp. on the cymbals.
