atmospheric prog metal
ok, im looking for something very specific here, i am interested in some new bands along the lines of opeth and agalloch.

Farmakon draw comparisons with Opeth, although they introduce a more funky approach to proceedings.
I know it's a departure from Opeth, but you can't beat Isis for atmospheric prog metal. Other bands that may interest you are Pelican and Red Sparowes. Both are instrumental with the latter probably leaning more towards prog rock than prog metal, but the atmosphere that Red Sparowes garners is awesome.

Spiral Architect are awesome.
I'm not so sure for atmosphere though.
They even got Sean Malone to play stick on one of their songs.

thank you soooo much for suggesting isis, i DLed "in the absense of truth" and near about came in my pants listening.
also, sorry to anyone who may get pissed over this being a bit late, i have been away from the net for the past week or two, as i am in the process of moving.
