Exclusive: DISSECTION Frontman JON NÖDTVEIDT Commits Suicide - Aug. 18, 2006
DISSECTION frontman Jon Nödtveidt has committed suicide, informed sources have told BLABBERMOUTH.NET. More details will be made available shortly.
Nödtveidt formed DISSECTION in 1989 and released two full-length albums with the group "The Somberlain" (1993) and "Storm of the Light's Bane" (1995) before he was convicted in Sweden of felony murder of 37-year-old homosexual Algerian Josef Ben Maddour in 1997. He was released from prison in 2004, at which point he restarted DISSECTION.
DISSECTION announced in May that it would split up imediately following its final performances in support of its recently released CD, "Reinkaos". The band was subsequently forced to cancel its two previously announced appearances in North America (Sept. 1 at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, CA and Sept. 6 at B.B. King Blues Club in New York City) after Nödtveidt was denied legal entry into the United States as a result of his conviction.
DISSECTION's most recent album, "Reinkaos", was released in May on The End Records.

Found out about this when I logged onto Blabbermouth in the morning.
Dissection where one of the first extreme metal bands I really liked, and they did release two very important and influential albums. I can't help but think though, for someone who always talked about 'strength' it's kind of hypocritical that he went out this way. That's why it's such a suprise to me.
EDIT : Yeah, Reinkaos was a huge letdown for the fans, but Jon seemed confident about it. What really sucks is they cancelled their U.S. tour just recently, I was looking forward to seeing them. Looks like that's never gonna happen.

Seriously dude, my thoughts exactly. Satanists in the truest sense don't ever view suicide as an option. Jon must have seriously been on some extreme, far out trip. As far I understood he was part of some 'anti-cosmic' order that used watered down satanic philosophy as its idealistic springboard, 'cosmic' in this case meaning everything that is whole and regular and existant. What a load of bullshit. Hypocritical or not, it sucks that he's dead. |

Meh dissection were meh, I remember watching a program called "Death Metal Murders" on Crime investigation (not related to Jon's murder) and they had an interview with Jon.
He was a total fag about satanism, it gives death metal a stereotypically satanist name, so in all honesty I really don't care that he's dead. It's probably better for the metal community.

Oh dear lord. Here we go again.
Just like that Pantera-guitarist, suddenly everyone pays 'respect' to him, by playing the 14 Pantera-songs they have on their pc all day, yelling stuff like 'We'll miss you '"""bro"""!'/'you'll NEVER be forgotten!'/'You don't know what you meant to us!'/...
It's like 'moral indignation'. Moral indignation and 'dead-worshipping' (dead people-worship...) is the strategy of idiots to raise the impression that they have 'dignity' and 'values'.

He'd really gotten dumb over the past few years, so I guess that it's no surprise that he'd kill himself. Still, it sucks for, well, probably for somebody. I'm not sure for whom, but he must have known somebody who wasn't a deluded Satanist thinking that his suicide was a positive and significant act.

HAHAHAH What a goof. Actually this came as a pleasent surprise. My friend was like "DUDE! THE VOCALIST FOR DISSMEMBER KILLED HIMSELF!" ANd I was like "NOOOOOOO!" (Cause I love Dissmember) then I find out it was Dissection and I was like "Oh Ok whatever".
Personally I think the whole Santanic thing is a big joke. Like if Satanists hate Christianity so much then why are they salisiting their belifs just like Christians? Plus they tend to contradict themselves a lot.
They only smart satanic people I have ever known is this one family (yes a family) that belives in Satan. And they don't go around saying "RARARAR LUCIFER! RARARAR!" They are just like "Yeah we belive in it, it's just something we do. It's nothing big and we don't need to premote it in anyway cause people who do just look like idiots."
