how do you record a live performance?

Im a noob when it comes to recording i was wondering how i would go about recording my band live?im sure it depends on where we are playing and our first show is going to be at a highschool on a sound stage.thanks in advance for all the help

If you are planning to mic everything into a PA mixer then use the direct output of the PA mixer into a recording device.

Otherwise, use an open mic in a well placed spot to capture everything.

Well thanks for the quick advice,i think im going to go really cheap and get a 40$ Behringer Eurorack UB802 Mixer,but does anyone have any suggestion for a cheap digital recorder

You are going to have to do your own leg work on this one. There are tons of digital recorders out there but like me you must find the one that has the features you need and will need in the future. Plus one that can be interfaced with PC recording program is a good buy

Lol, some of the dudes back with the keyboards are actually helpful with recording info. NEVER trust the punks trying to guide you over to the Krank amps in the guitar area. In fact, trust no one you ever see in the guitar area. Snakes with smiles and inside insults, all of them
