Fucking hate the SG shape. Always have.
But I love Les Pauls, apart from the fact that Gibson is a money-sucking black hole.
Good Les Paul copies own.

I like how they look both, but I have only experience playing a LP.
But the SG looks easier to reach the higher frets..

Gibson Lp's are much smoother than SG's, SG's are more dirty/rough.

Damn straight.
they're both averagely ok.
A mediocre guitar (Ibanez, Jackson, ESP etc.) with a mediocre price would own both those guitars with some upgrades (pickups mainly).

I would say LPs. I never really liked SGs, i greatly prefer the tone of the LP. This said, my real choice is my eclipse. I like it much better than both and i don't like the gibson head stock on those guitars.

SG, i hate both of them for various reasons, but i find les pauls to be WAYYYYYYy too pricey, and the weight of it just destroys my back.

That's a load of crap! Have you ever owned a LP or SG?
The whole world seems to think that pickups are so important and that an upgrade can make your guitar sound like an expesive USA made. My and my mates experiences is that if the wood is crap, new picups don't do the job at all, because the wood is shaping the sound.
You can buy a Mediocre Jackson, buy two duncans and a real floyd and you have spendt so much that you could have bough a Gibson. And then you still have no sustain, anf your neck, body and tunders will still be shit.

Mediocre Jackson-$500 to $700
Duncan pups-$140 for a JB and 59 set
Floyd Rose-$170 for Chrome, $180 for Black, & $200 for Gold
With a Floyd the tuners are not an issue, and Jackson necks are nearly always good. Jackson bodies are generally made of decent wood unless you are talking about their poverty models.
Gibsons are over priced crap. Only 1 in 50 Les Pauls are worth keeping. I will say if you can find that 1 of 50 it will be a stellar guitar. But the hassle of trying to find it out weighs the benefits.
To answer the poll, SG pwns the LP. QC is generally better in the SG line and it's far more friendly to play.
edit: I just remembered that Gibsons factory tuners are notoriously bad.
Pot. Kettle. Black.

I have absolutely no idea what you are trying to say, nothing there makes any rational sense......1 out of 50? What have you been counting?

No I have not owned a LP or SG because money does not grow one trees. However, my best friend owns an LP so I have played it many times. It is the 2006 LP standard. The bridge on my RG1527 (floyd lo-pro) just fucking kills the LP bridge. The LP pickups are meh, im not a fan of the 'traditional' tone. The neck is good, but nowhere near as good as a prestige neck. and to top it off its heavy as FUKCKKC. and buy the way, total my guitar with upgrades, $2000 AU, his totall $3100
there is a difference kids.
Ibanez
...Im still waiting for the 'none of the above' option in the poll.

I would like to have a 24 fret SG Special, for playing Priest and Scorpions and stuff. That would be sweet.
