What the fuck is Speed Metal?
I've heard the term "speed metal" thrown around a few times lately. What i wanna know is if speed metal is just another name for thrash or is it different?
And if it's different, wat bands would fit into the genre?

i've seen huge debates about this but heres what i say: Speed is like iron maiden, and metallica's first album. it is heavy and fast, but not too extreme like say slayer or exodus, who have a fast heavier and more brutal sound. those bands are thrash, and notice how thier drumming is more crazier than iron maiden and early metallica, thats one of the big differences between thrash and speed.

What?? That album isn't very fast at all compared to stuff off Haunting and Show No Mercy.....or Reign and Seasons even.

Speed Metal is a kind of light metal music with way off tempo. Bands such as Stratovarius, maybe Rhapsody... It's fun to play!

I was under the impression that speed metal was stuff like Slayer's Reign in Blood but it seems i may be wrong. Nearly everyone who posted here has different ideas of what speed metal is.
