Peavey Bandit for death metal?
I'm planning to upgrade my amp, and was thinking about the Peavey Bandit 112. There is an older version of this amp on a near music store. Could someone tell me how is this amp's distortion? Will it work well for death metal like Cannibal corpse, Deicide; or will i need to use a pedal.
Also could someone tell me if there is any difference between this older version and the latest version?
Any help will be good
Thanks

I own the 2-12" version od the bandit (Peavey Special 212) They distoriton is ok for (old school) Cannibal Corpse and Deicide. The high are somtimes too intense and sometimes the low are mudy but for my playing I need alot of bass, so for old school stuff I think it would be good for it.

Ive played a Peavey 112 bandit before.. when I first started out on guitar.
I borrowed it off a mate. I never knew much about tones then.. and alot of different things sounded so good.
But from what I can remember It probly could do death metal.. My mate Marcus who plays alot of stuff , from Neo Classical to Heavy Down Tuned Death Metal used it quite alot , and it sounded fine as. But he's been playing for ages so it might just be his technique aswell...
If your wanting to buy it , my suggestion is try to test it at a guitar center or something. Or find some sound samples.

It might not have as much gain as the new one but I played an even older version and it had all the gain i needed.

from what i've heard about it, yeah it can pull of the cannibal corpse tones. I have never played one myself though.

Peavey Bandit + Boss Heavy Metal pedal = Sunlight Studios tone.
I believe so.

i've owned a peavey bandit 112s and now i own the newest model and the new model is easily the best in my opinion. Even for old school metal the modern metal settings is great for bedroom to practice with a drummer volume. The best solid state amp i have owned and i have owned a line 6 spider 2, roland cube 60, Marshallmg100dfx, laney hardcore mxd and peavey bandit 112s.
I'd get the newest model if i were you, you won't need a pedal and you can get some real cool metal tones from it. The earlier model i owned did need a pedal with it.

I agree. I got a 112, and I love it. Sounds great for death metal imo. I play lots of Suffocation, soilentgreen, Hate eternal, TRY... disgorge. Sounds great.
The amp has good variety as far as shaping you tone. I would say go for the new one as well. ALTHOUGH.. I've never played an older one.

I had an old peavey bandit and played it with a gibson like guitar with pafs.
I rehearsed with my drummer who liked troo /M/ black metalzz and stuff.
The amp sounds really oldschool old swedish norwegian death/black like.
Sounds great without a pedal.
Distortion owns
