Devourment
okay, I've been searching for this for quite some time. And I always wonderd what kind of gear devourment uses. I mean effects if they use any. Amps, guitar strings etc..I have the official devourment dvd and I see some old ass crate that sounds pretty brutal but I can;t find it anywhere. And some unrecognizable rack gear. If someone knows please post. I'm very curious. Their tone is awesome imo

I asked Ruben a while back...he said he uses: Peavey Proflex II Processer, Randall XL cabs, BBE Sonic Maximizer, Alesis compressor/limiter...Also in the DVD, Devourment uses an old Crate GT-200DH (Hybrid) with a Behringer poweramp, and Ampeg cabs.

this is an honest question, youd want his tone for anything more than a laugh?

What Sam is trying to say : Ruben's tone is completely fucking over-the-top. Ruben has the guitar tone I had whenever I had my Line 6 POD with rack units and four cabinets. I think you can get Ruben's tone with just about anything that has enough horsepower to let you absolutely saturate your cabinets with bass frequencies, and an EQ nimble enough to let you have some top-end cut so people can still tell that its a guitar .
I would just take your favourite amplifier and get an Aphex 204 and make sure you've got ample control over your presence, get higher wattage cabs and you're set.

I have this amp, and with a MT-2 turned with a lot of gain it sounds just like babykiller.

Well now Ruben has a Line 6 pod (not the XT but the one before that) And has a new power amp which is a QSC power amp. Also he has a new Carvin Guitar I think its the DC 127.

Yeah Butcher The Weak had a terrible tone. It was tottal mush. But they are re-recording it with the Babykiller tone so it should be MUCH better. And they are even doing the original Babykiller this time around.
As for his tone. I wouldn't want it personally. It just seems like too much equipment (and expensive at that) just to get such an over the top, and easy to do, guitar tone. You know how you get his guitar tone? Simple: Scoop The Mids. I hate scooping the mids but it works for his tone. It goes Gain: 10, Low: 10, Mid: 0, High: 10. And if you have Presence: 10.
Also a BBE Sonic Maximizer helps if you really want to rape your fucking tone.

you dont know what youre talking about. BTW was re-recorded (and sent out, mine came yesterday) with very similar but BETTER production. his tone is still mushy. its like that LIVE, i have seen them and it sounds exactly like the album. its no error that ruben has tone like that
it is NOT the original babykiller either

Well since I don't own that album I wouldn't know. So sorry. It sounds like Devourment cheated it's fans.

dude, you couldnt be any further from the truth. dont say shit like that about an underground death metal band, dont you think they have it hard enough trying to keep their heads above water without someone who admittedly doesnt know WHAT the fuck theyre talking about badmouthing them on forums?
they recorded BTW the first time on all their own budget, with no distributor and a less than satisfactory product came out of it. after a while, they signed to brutal bands. this new label allowed them to re-record it in may of 06 which they did, selling some preorder packages and stuff like that. i just spoke with mike majewksi himself (double check ANY of this with him on smnnews.com/board, he posts as m138jewski) and he said he now has about 1000 of the old BTW that he most likely will never be able to sell
so dont slander a hardworking band when you have no idea what the FUCK youre talking about.

Then it's a Pod Pro. I could pull some Devourment style tones with mine with these settings:
Model:Line 6 Insane (No cab emulation)
Drive:10
Bass:10
Mids:5-6
Highs:10
Channel Volume:10
Turn the distortion model on, and leave the gain boost on, turn the presence off. Make sure the POD is in Live mode not Direct.

Listening to Anal Electrocution (re-recorded), I think you would have some mids, about 5, with contour set far to the right, if you have contour. Or scoop, as I think it's more commonly called.
