If you're refering to the Isis that I think you're refering to, there's no way on this Earth that they would be categorised as doom or sludge.

It's sometimes called doom because it's extremely slow hardcore (i know it's not really hardcore either).

if anyone wants, i can post a couple of songs.

I would appreciate it if you did. I seem to be sorely lacking in doom metal bands.

Isis, if anything, are prog metal but they are often associated with the post-hardcore scene.

I've got 2 of those, too. One grind one goregrind. It kinda pisses me off. That and it's like the same two guys in all of my bands.
I did get one kid into noise however so we're gonna do a split which is cool.

I don't like the doomcore term, but to me it's atmospheric sludge which I think serves the music really well.

I'll reiterate: just because music is slow does not make it is sludge.
People actually take note of what is said about bands here (for instance, I've bought albums based on the descriptions and recommendations of people here) and I'd hate for somebody to spend hard earned cash on an Isis album expecting it to be sludge when it quite patently isn't. Fuck Metal Archives or whatever that link was - Isis are not sludge, sludgecore, doomcore, atmospheric sludge or anything to do with that scene.

Tennessee Metal
Evil Bebos is some true stoner metal. They combine elements of noise, melody, heavy riffage, and deep, guttural bellows that is meant to be listened from beginning to end loud as hell. Check this shit out...

Warning - Watching From a Distance is one of the most emotionally draining albums I've ever heard.
Every single Esoteric release is great
I have to agree with Reverend Bizarre - In the Rectory of Reverend Bizarre. That is one of my favorite metal albums of all time.
Boris is good too. They visit Austin rather frequently. I am lucky.
Doom is one of the metal genres that I still listen to. Good for purging. Absolutely crushing when played live.

Monolithe (almost as good as Esoteric)
Evoken
Dolorian
Ahab
Forest Stream

I just dug up Sixty Watt Shaman's Seed of Decades last night and smoked one. Sweetness...
