EMG or Dunken
Dudes, have any idea what's better to put on my costum EMG or Dunken?

I think he is refering to Seymour Duncan pickups. I would go for passive Dimarzios instead, but it really depends what kind of sound you are going for.

As for the thead starter, we really need to know what kind of music you plan on playing if you want an opinions of what kind of pickups to use.

personally, id go with a duncan combo of a JB in the bridge and a Jazz or '59 in the neck, good all around sound for almost any style of playing.

Yea, regardless of what style of music you play you cant go wrong with that combo. Hence why I am looking at an ESP Deluxe.

yeah i got a distortion too, and it's just not that much better than the Ibanez stock pickup it replaced. but i can't say that palm-mutes sound like crap. the only thing really noticeable is better harmonics. after the tech put it in for me, he said i would probably prefer to switch back because the duncan seemed weaker. then again i am tuned to B, so i suppose i am not gonna bring out the best in any pickup. i wish i had tried the X2N instead!

That setup sounds best with a mahagony guitar though. It misses a bit of low and low-mid end on alder guitars.

Iv got one guitar with an s/d invader in the bridge and another with emg 81's. I tend to like the EMGs better, but the invader has a bad ass low end sound. its a little muddy for my taste though.

personaly the emg hz passives are good but no doubt the 81/85 setup is pretty sweet and you dont lose with the mids depends on the placement of the pickups and your style... i found a jacksojn at a pawnshop with the hz's and it actually sounds fucking great.

I think duncans are better for black metal and the emgs for death. The duncans to me are brighter and the emgs a little more gain

It really depends on what type of sound you want.
For more solo style stuff I recomend Paul Reed Smith pickups, Duncans or Dimarzios. These pickups also work well for thrash and black metal. Mostly if there is a lot of solo work going on.
EMGs are more chunky and heavy. Great for death metal and thrash as well.
