Yay, now MY throat hurts
Alright, so I finally got around to start learning to growl/scream. Fucked up my throat pretty severe, and I'm sick now. I know the pain is normal, but your first time, do you usually end up sick? My buddy was sick a few weeks ago from the same thing (he was worse than me, and I'm pretty bad).
So now I've either just got a sore throat, or I'm stuck with Strep Throat. I've got almost no energy and I'm on my ass.
I'm also wondering if its going to get less severe as I continue this, and what remedies work for soothing your throat. I'm on hot tea and cough drops for now.

Strangely enough, I'm not sick this morning... Still a slight tickle in my throat, but not feeling like death anymore...
THATS fuckin' weird. Anyone else had this happen?

Trust me. Comes and goes.
I'm not feeling the most well at the moment myself and my ability to do my voice comes and goes too.
I would also do a regular practice.
Put a CD on and sing along to it.
I do my practice to Akercocke's 'Choronzon'.
I think if you've hurt your voice then you're using the wrong technique.
There should be no friction in your throat. It is often said by vocalists that it comes from the diaphragm and is backed up by my dad, who used to do march orders when he was in the army. He sais the others used to do use the throat and duff their voice, whereas he did it from the diaphragm and was fine.
Either way, take your time. I've taken a year and a half to find my voice.

Usually it will give you a bit of a head-cold. Ive had this happen a few times also. Last 2 days usually. Only happens if i fuck up and tear my throat to peices.

Tell you vocal chords to grow some balls!
My throat only gets sore if I'm growling for like an hour and a half straight (did it while recording).
Never actually gotten sick though.

you probly striped your throat lining and its goten infected, its happed to me once before, i didnt mind tho, got me out of school for a week
