Trey Azagthoth's Settup
Hey I was looking at some videos of Morbid Angel and I noticed he really yanks the shit out of the thing. LOL I was just wondering what would I have to do to make my guitar stay in tune while still taking the abuse of Azagthoth or Vai?

an ORIGINAL floyd rose. I have a Schaller Floyd on my ran. I abuse the shit out of it and it stays in tune. Where as I have a licensed floyd on my ibanez. If you touch it it goes out of tune....

A LICENSED FLOYD! THOSE THINGS ARE FUCKING GREAT!
Dude, the answer's pretty fucking obvious. If you still can't think there's always a search button.

A better question would be what he uses for equipment.
As far as i remember (since he is my fav guitarist) is a harmonizer (worth approx $15-20,000) running with 2 jcm900 heads. Uses an ibanez rg 7 string universe on some songs starting with the Covenant album. I cant remember which guitar he uses for most of the 6 string songs (the red one, someone help me out here). If anybody has more info on his equipment i would be interested in knowing.
If you would like more info on Trey: http://angemorbide.free.fr/treybio.html
I used to have a website in my favorites that listed his equipment but i cant find it anymore.

I'm pretty sure he uses a Dimarzio PAF Pro in the bridge position, but dont quote me on that.

Trey has also used Jacksons, he was playing a Warrior for some of the 6 string stuff.
He does change guitars constantly through his set, and not just from 6 string to 7 string for the different era's, those guitars need retuning due to the shit he gives them, and I think he keeps his guitar tech pretty busy during sets.

ya man thats the same one, they were telling you how he used industrial fans between the mic and cabinet to create that bubbly sound during some of the solos in FFF. Awesome effect. I noticed he also used them on some of the Gateways solos.

his red ironbird (the Instagib) is an old ass Bc Rich Rave Ironbird. He's modded it though, i know that he routed out the neck pickup position and put in a single coil, replaced the neck so he could get a reverse headstock (theres pictures of the instagib with both normal and reverse headstocks), and he definately routed out the trem to fit in a floyd-type trem (rave's came with strat style trems to cut down on costs). He also added a pickup switch with a tiny pickguard around it.... the pickups LOOK like a hot rails and a dimebucker... so anything that looks like those are a possibility.

Actually no it's not a Rave Ironbird, it's an International series BCR from the mid 80', one of the first foreign made import BCR's. Came with a vintage trem, Trey modded this though and later on installed that single coil, repainted a billion times, and swapped the neck 3 times.
Yes he uses a PAF Pro in the bridge of all his 6-string guitars(orange Ibanez Rg550, BCR Ironbird, Hamer Vector, Jackson Warrior WRXT(yes it's the Japanese made one not a USA), Charvel blue QM-top star, and Charvel Model 5FX(used to have it, I have one too w/ a Schaller Floyd!). His Universe UV7BK still has the stock dimarzio blaze pickups and the original bridge, but he also has some grey Prestige 7 string with a Roland GK pickup and a magenta RG7620 with -most likely- different pickups and bridges.
In his new blue WRXT he has one of those coil-splitabble neck humbuckers that have one coil that looks like a hotrails(he probably did this since he couldn't fit a regular singlecoil into a humbucker position).
As for the bridge he uses a "Schaller Lo-Pro" which is also known as a Floyd Rose III. As you can figure it's a hard to find but incredibly awesome bridge.
An original Floyd rose, Schaller or Floyd Rose Pro should never go out of tune. Less you have some serious neck joint problem, your nut is extremely worn, or you simply don't know how to set it up right.
His amp is 2 JCM900's(for a stereo effect) tickled with a ProCo Rat rack unit that gives it a very overdriven sound. As for his effects he uses a ton of shit, MXR Phase 90, Ibanez Analog Delay, Eventide Harmonizer, some really pro rack reverb, a Univibe chorus, Boss Flanger... I think that's about it.
All this is factual info I've picked up from various interviews. If anyone wants the links just ask.
*is a huge fanboy*
