Line6 Spider amp problem?

Im sportin an ESP LTD ec-1000 with a line6 spider amp and it has been working wonders for me. I use the distortion on my amp alot more than the clean channels. But just recently I switched back to clean to try a few things and my clean channel is distorted. If i play softly its almost like it is perfectly clean, but the moment I start playing normally, distortion starts leaking through. Nothing else is wrong with the amp, all the other effects and channels work flawlessly. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, that model has EMGs standard in it.
It is probably a problem with your wiring.

If you aren't playing with your clean alot, I wouldn't really put the money out to get it fixed. Shouldn't be too much to get it looked at and fixed, but I only would if you are gonna use your clean enough.

But maybe he has forgotten to switch batteries for a long time. EMG;s sound more distorted when the battery starts to fade.

i have the same amp... switch to the clean channel, and then turn the gain knob to zero, emg's tend to distort clean2 on mine... and clean 2 starts with aobut 50% gain, so tend to get it dirty. just remember the knobs are digital, so you have to move them a bit before they respond. thats one reason i hate that amp...

hmm...

Ok so far It could be 3 problems. 1) a Problem with my EMG wiring, 2) my EMG batteries need replacing, or 3) mis toggling my spider's settings

Well ive known about the digital toggling issues, yeah it is annoying..every time i switch channels I gotta jiggle all the knobs to respond to the correct setting...

Well its not the amp toggling, because ive tried everything on the clean channel and still distorted...Lol I havent replaced the battery in my EMGs for months and months, but why would I need to? Nothing sounds wrong on the distorted channels...And heh, I hope its not the wiring...guitar is only a year old.

Ok Ive narrowed it. I tried the axe on my friends marshall and the same distortion leaks through on clean, tried my friends axe on my spider and the clean channel works fine. I then took the battery out and voila, clean works fine and the distorted channels are weak. Gona grab another battery later on and confirm if its fixed or not.

Remember, EMG's are REALLY high output pickups and so they will distort a clean channel sooner than other guitars. So replace your battery just because you havent done it in awhile and turn down the gain on your clean channel.
