Swing/Jazz
I know it has nothing to do with metal, close it if you may, but I really find Jazz intriguing, but what I like is the up-beat, ride cymbal swing style jazz and I have no clue where to start or who to listen to. Could someone help me out? Name some artists/bands?

Start with anything from 1930 to 1945 that has Gene Krupa or Chick Webb. Benny Goodman and Count Basie also did tracks like I think you mean (that driving 'ping ride' kind of sound?). Definitely not my favourite kind of jazz.

big band or bebop?. big band can be good, but its just rarely done good since the 50s it seems. be-bop is more preferable to me but it can get a little spastic and random.
been getting into the more avante-complete noise shit, miles davis, john coltranes later work, gonna check out ornette coleman too. ive just started to look into it so i dont know alot of the better stuff that was released.
i only know drummers mostly, not the bands. blakey, elvin jones, papa jo,john dejohnette, chick webb.

go for big bad voodoo daddy over the cherry poppin' daddies, same style but way tighter.
also check out duke ellington and maynard ferguson. as said by low-tech, i to am more into the more "trippy" jazz ala miles davis and coltrane, but i like all of davis' stuff, not just the trippy shit, check out his album "Kind of Blue" as it is considered one of those must have albums in the jazz world.

I remember waiting for my guitar to be fixed a few days ago.
A jazz song came on in the background. Loved it.
Drums, guitar, piano. Tons of stuff.
Because I'm into composing and shit now I was really listening in, the synocpations of the drums, the chords and scales that the piano and guitar played.
Melodic minor.
Wholetone, tranposed up in semitones.
Scales alternating with drone bass notes.
It was great. Made that wait fun.
I like jazz.

I love big band but I haven't heard any bebop and I'd love to... who should I listen to for bebop? I am very interested in the genre.

I don't know any other similar bands, but I have almost every song by that band. Their music is mostly blues rock and jazz ballads. They released new album about a week ago.
