wow.
I've never even seen this kind of guitar.
But I guess it makes sense due to the angle your arms and wrists are at when you play at certain frets...

The idea of the fanned-fret technology is to balance intonation, string tension, and even response along the neck.It most often applies to guitars with more strings because of the compromises involved in tuning. The fanned-frets make the notes more "accurate." These guitars are actually more ergonomical, as the fanning follows the arc of your hand as you move across the fretboard.

Fanned frets are one of those things thats probably going to take off 30 years down the track,
Its more ergonomic and it makes sense considering the way your hand moves when you play

hey nvm i think ive got it figuerd out.
they pick a different scale lenght for each string..
example..
b 27''
e 26,5''
a 26''
d 25,5''
g 25''
b 24,5''
damn how clever, im gonna try this sumtime
EDIT:
ok i wasnt completely right.
it would be (for a 7 string)
FOR EXAMPLE
low B 27'' scale
high E 25,5'' scale
or pretty much whatever scale you would prefer i guess

Yeah, Fanned frets are to make the scale longer, making the fat strings sound bassier.
That's the primary reason for it, I believe.
Anyway, it's a very clever and logical idea, I like them but I haven't played any guitar with them.

I thought it was just to allow for better string tensions (better being tighter for heavy gauge bass strings and lighter for the treble side) and more accurate intonation.
