painting over pickups?
okay, sounds like a bad idea but would it really hurt them, theyre emg hz's so the paint wouldnt be in direct contact and I would be using spray so its not gonna be super think
please serious responses only i know how dumb this may sound but keep it to yourself

I once spray painted my alnico pickups in my old explorer. no problems at all. they worked the same as they did before

Paint will not affect the magnitism between your strings and pickups.
The only thing that i would think might, is lead paint which i dont think is made anymore... thats just my guess anyways.

on some custom guitars they paint the pickups so it matches the erst of the special paint on ther guitar, so i guess it should be ok

Its fine,Jackson customs do it all the time.Though,I wouldnt be keen on doing it to open coils,but EMG's will be fine.

A lot of high end custom basses these days have matching wood covers over the pickups so paint would be perfectly fine. The only thing I would be concerned with is if you have the pickups up fairly high the strings could wear the paint off of them.

You can do it to open coils its just a matter of protecting the screws and slugs.

not nesessarily,
i use the jazz pickup to hit a high c sharp on my g string
but anyway, someone else told me to use model paint...
it would be easier to apply and removable if I diddnt like it, but would it be too thick?

i guess u could thin the paint with thinner?? deopending wether the paint is waterbased or not, i doubt modelign paint will be waterbase though, usualy wall paint is waterbased (latex etc).
