Sorry to bother you....
I need help fast.....
Peavey XXL rig or Peavey Valveking rig?
I'm ordering a new rig tomorrow and I need some help. I've just tested the valveking, but as far as I know the XXL rig is better.
Help......please?

it comes down to opinion...the XXL IS a better amp technically, and it is more expensive....however...i myself preferred the valveking due to price and tone....i've begun modding my valveking and it is turning out better than i ever expected...

haha...sorry...uhm not sure if XXL is chinese made but valve king is....but the VK only has 3 12ax7's....ya...i guess technically was the wrong word....haha...its all opinion...uhmm...welll okay i'll be more specific...the XXL is more metal based but its not a tube amp, although it is quite versatile...the VK is more rock based but can be modded...it is versatile in a different way...due to the class switching knob

Yeah well, I'm not really into this ''tube thing'', meaning that I don't want another thing I gotta replace. And also, i tested a Supreme, and since they're in the same serie, the should sound about the same, right or wrong?

well you have to replace strings too, so why dont you just give up guitar? go with tubes, its way more likely youll get a tone similar to a band you like with a tube amp than with a solid state

That wasn't exactly as i meant. Like i've said, i tested the valveking today but i didn't really get the sound that i wanted(Dimebag, Rhoads that kinda shit). And also like I said before, i tested a Supreme head and it sounded good to me. And from what i've heard(samples on the internet) the supreme and xxl sound quite the same. True?

Of course the solid state amps sounded better, you probably werent playing that loud. Go with tube. You will be happier in the long run and there is so much you can do to the amp to make it sound even better.

research modding the VK head...i am in that process right now...its going to be a bit experimental cuz there are not mods on the net for it since it recently came out, unlike the 5150....i will let you know how it goes....
the texture switch on the VK is glorious...right now it will go from class A(bluesy) to class A/B and anywhere in between....i have talked to an amp tech and after i am done with the mods he thinks i should have a bogner-esque tone on A and a mesa esque tone on A/B when i am done....and anywhere in between bogner/mesa mix tone yummmss

if you don't like the valve king, dont buy the valveking. there is no rule of tubes are always better.

i've never played a valve king, but i have played the XXL. I didn't like the XXL that much. I have a super high gain SS head and a medium gain tube head and i like the medium gain tube head more. boosted lower gain amps sound great. band practices have worked a lot better in my favor since i started using my tube head.

Well it all depends, what are you doing with the amp, playing live or recording at lower volumes? Thats where you should decide. I use tube amps live and solidstate for recording line-out and practicing at home.
