the thing about anal cunt, as opposed to the subsequent porno-gore grind stuff that kinda followed in thier wake years later<i guess carcass is a major influence too>, is that there was no scene for what AC were doing. AC was intended to crash everyones party,everyones show,hardcore,metal,punk everything, flip everyones wig,piss off venues and crowds to the point of violence. from which they totally succeeded

AC has been doing this shit since the 80's. thier music was intentionally supposed to go against the grain of all underground music then.

thier goal was to be hated. they are more racist than any nazi band, more stupid, pointlessly insulting,pseudo sadistic than any death metal band, more violent than any tough guy hardcore band, used more drugs and drank more than any punk band. the only band to top them was gg allen and whatever musicians would accompany him on any ill fated tour he never could get past a week into due to him being arrested or beat up or ODing.

to me, none of these newer shock value gore-porno whatever bands can hold a candle to anal cunt or gg in this regard, anal cunt and gg had already done shit these newer bands simply wont do. i personally do not like anal cunt or gg allen, but i can see what they were going for, when music ventures into a competition of being the most anti-social,the most evil,most violent music possible you will attract legit psychotics<putnum,allen> who will show you that fine line between the tounge and cheek, the imitation and the real,utterly fucking stupid, deal of being an insane asshole willing to get the shit kicked out of him by the crowd.

im not saying every band should have this meaningful,well thought out message but alot of these kind of bands i hear are composed of good musicians who play pointless, not really shocking at all,music.

Perhaps I just didn't understand. If it's emotion we are talking here, then all grindcore really elicits is anger and hatred...AC would be the #1 band for that.
If it's lyrical content, that shouldn't really matter anyway because most grind bands it's hard to understand them anyway.

1. No, they weren't, but I try to make my point clear and I sometimes go a little too far. Sorry.

2. I'm not denying that Grindcore doesn't have emotion. It's just... Think of it like this. You have all these little photos that represent your hate and your anger. What's on the photos could be stuff that you hate, stuff that makes you angry, and so on. Now any form of music can take those photos and organize them into a collage of a sort and the collage represents the music they play; how the photos are organized and such. You understand? Now with grindcore.... a grindcore band takes those photo's, dunks them in rubber cement (Of course with pornogrind, they would be pasting the pictures with cum, *stifled chuckle*) and slamming them onto the canvas as fast as the can, not caring where they paste it. They put too much raw power and energy in their pusic that there is just little or no room for clarity. Which is pretty much what makes up grindcore.

3. I don't really pay attention to lyrics with any music I listen to. Words mean shit to me.

4. Anal Cunts attitude? If it's their offensive, racist, nazist, homophobic, trying-to-be-as-grotesque-as-possible-attitude, no I don't have a problem with it. I hate them because they were meant to be a joke band, just a band to fuck around and shit, not even be serious with their music, and they GOT FUCKING SIGNED!!! They practically lowered the bar for bands to get signed; CRAPPY BANDS, if you will. Sellout bands, bands that don't give a shit abotu music, who just want money. It's not as if they went out searching for a label, Earach discovered them and thought what they were doing was completely genius, so they did what record labels try to do...sign a fresh new band. Seth even wrote a song called "We're Not Allowed To Listen To Anal Cunt Anymore, Because They Signed To Earache."

I'm not specifically calling THEM sellouts. I'm saying they are lowering the bar for what most of the music industry considers good music. They give out one clear message. "We are fucking losers but we still got signed." Whether that's to a shitty label or not, I think getting signed to any label should be a good honor to a band and such an honor shouldn't be squandered on skidmarks such as Anal Cunt. They have shown the world that mediocrity and pure shit is acceptable in music.

I don't need the music I listen to to be phylisophical. I'm all for brutality in music. But there's a fine line between brutality, and trash. Cannibal Corpse is, in my opinion, one of the most brutal bands out there. They can still keep up the power without getting sloppy. I think they commit themselves to make sure that doesn't happen. That's what I'm looking for in a band. Yeah, CC have made a few videos and stuff, but I would hardly call them sellouts.
Slipknot, on the other hand, needs a reality check. For the record, I like the music Slipknot makes. I like their sound, and the energy they do put out there, but I HATE the band themselves. They, and I quote you, "Have the intellectual signifigance of a fart joke." They think they are the most brutal band in mainstream music. They talk about how much they scared "abunch of record label pussy ass motherfuckers." For committing to their music and not getting TOO sloppy and crap, I would rally them with bands like CC. But their attitude is fucking bullshit. They are a joke and they don't know it.

They are the kind of bands Anal Cunt is indirectly influencing. Bands that'll pretend. Bands who are too lazy to take music seriously.


If I wanted to go to Europe, I would go to Europe. I take music , among other things, very seriously, and I hate it when people make a joke out of it. People who lack disipline, poeple who would rather get piss drunk and scream into a mic than commit themselves to performing a great show.And I'm not just talking about metal music.

When I was in school, I was in the marching band. Contrary to popular belief, it is hard work to rehearse each movement, put it on the field, and perform it. I was proud of the work we did BECAUSE we put hard work into it. People shouldn't have that sense of pride and that feeling of acomplishment handed to them on a platter without working for it. Anal Cunt performs, like, what, how many half assed shows and gets signed? I understand the whole "slap in the face to the whole conglomerate of music." And I know music is a form of expression. But for me, music is also something that I want to push myself with. Reach my potential.

If I wanted to be a "funny" little asshole, I would just shit in a bucket on stage and throw it into a crowd.

AC formed a little after napalm death who are like the fucking pioneers of brutal music. grindcore at that time wasnt about technical,well composed ability,digital recordings and drum triggers,everything tight as hell etc.<that all came later>. it was the direct opposite. this was a time when most bands took a bizzare pride in not knowing how to play thier instruments, the word arpeggio is something most of the old grind bands wouldnt know about or much care about anyway. i love alot of the old lo-fi bands and i think others have done better than AC at that time, but i wouldnt say thier sound goes without merit, thier influence on underground music is unquestionable.

music is different for everyone, i also happen to take music very seriously, but i would love to do a fucking acoustic mayhem type of group. its music, it should be more fun than anything else in the world, it shouldn't become work, when that happens, you get burnt out, i saw it happen to countless freshmen in the music program at central washington university. i personally love anal cunt because of the fact that it is TOTAL bullshit, its funny, its obnoxious, but it also, probably inadvertantly, pushes the boundaries of what people consider to be music, which, IMO, is the point of grind in general. but hey, thats my opinion, you dont like it, fuck off, : )

Having fun is one thing. But you usually aren't pushing yourself if you're just having fun. Music is hard work, but it's worth the hard work.

Not just in music, but in other fields too. YOu'll find other people who love what they do but work very hard doing it. Science, Math, English, Visual art, theater, and so on. All of these subjects along with music have oppertunities in them. You can be a scientist, Writer, Teacher, anything, and all of them involve hard work. It all depends on if you feel it is worth all the hard work.

For the longest time, I couldn't decide if I wanted a life in music or visual art, likepainting, drawing, and so on. So I took an AP Studio course which is the hardest art course in my school. Only passed it because the teacher was nice. 6 projects, and I could only finish 3 because I couldn't keep up with everyone. Not because I sucked, but because I was good at observation... a little too good.

Well, anyways, a little into the semester, this lady who graduated from the school, who also helps in creating the artwork for Southpark (yeah, hoo, fuck), explained how it was working in that sort if area. Granted, South Park has some really cheap artwork and graphics, but even so. She explained how her and the people who do that stuff practically stay up all night and work until the Wednsday when the episode airs working on just that one episode. And then they do it again. I think about this, and I just can't see myself working on art all the time like that. And I decided I could do more with music than art.

I'm not saying anything against what you just said. Of course if you like something, it doesn't feel like work. But whether you feel it or not, if you are committed to something, you do hard work, even if it doesn't feel hard. If you in the marching band and you and your mates are perfecting the show for the next competition, it's hard (esspecially if you have either a tuba on your back or a drum hanging off of you), but if you like it and enjoy it, you get over the fact it's hard and do it.

Also, even if you do like your job, there's always moments when it is hard. Like a composer who is having a dry spell and can't think of anything to write. I currently am trying to write an outro to this one song, and I'm very good at outros, but I can't think of anything.

i swear the powerviolence name came around the same time as those slap-a-ham festivals<and incredible comps> that went down in california years ago. political grindcore bands of the 90s, which is ironic because the message is both anti-violence and anti-government for most of the bands. its possibly the stupidest term to describe a style of music.

Funny thing is Victory signed this band called "The Audition" and now I guess they are really big. They opend up for my band one time and all their faggot emo fans liked Jimmy's Band even more than The Audition because they thought it was a the most insane thing they ever heard.

i like charlse bronson but dont know anything about them. i thought they were from Dekalb,illinois and existed around 95-96. broke up as another failed shitty band, released a discography.....................then proceeded to sell thousands and attained a cult following in that strange way some bands do.

thier music is so dumb it rules,they were like straight out of high school when they broke up or something. the singer sounds like a chick and the music is the most generic hardcore 10x faster than humanly possible. they are a novelty, good for an adrenaline rush, the lyrics were genuinely funny, the drummer was a single kick monster. ebro, who sat in on los crudos's last few years

I tend to prefer technical and political grind bands so nasum and carcass are at the top of my list. I also really dig listening to ion dissonance and daughters. Great bands. A lot of my favourite grind bands are ones I found on myspace ironicaly enough. Some that are really worth listening to would be pencil lead syringe, scrambled defuncts, the leviathan's mandible which is what's left of PETA is at the door and I'm holding a gun to the cats head.

I never write any of my grindcore prior to recording. Everything I have ever recorded was written as the record button was pushed.

Ah. Same here pretty much, but I have a little planning. When I decide 'hey I want to write a grind track' I brind my shit downstairs to the computer, think of a few 'riffs' if you may, add a random blasting part, figure out how to finish it off (this all takes me about 5 minutes) then I make the drumline on my shitty drum programing thing on the computer, and record guitars/vocals over it.

I disagree. I often get a rush from the music I listen to. I can't really explain it but just listening to a song can sometimes get my adrenaline pumping.

Can you honestly say you've never felt anything at all? Especially at a gig where your surrounded by other fans all getting into it do you just stand there and listen? There is a rush of adrenaline I get and it shows itself in singing along at the top of my voice, moshin in the pit, throwin my fist in the air. To me it's all about the passion and I can't help but get a rush from hearing music.
