which one would work better as a boost?

i havent had a chance to play either of these, but which do you think would work better as a boost pedal? im leanin towards the overdrive but the other one is "intended" for boost.

the nitro boost is pretty much a clean boost, it makes your sound higher output so the amp distorts faster... where as overdrives tend to just add gain to the sound, depending on the pedal and settings. alot of od pedals, like my od808 you can turn the gain down and the balance up to get the clean boost going on.

^yep...both will do the job however, the od will be more versatile (by allowing you to alter the gain of the boost circuit, and the boost pedal may have a slightly higher dB boost, however realize the difference between 20 and 22 dB is pretty much shit less

are rocktron pedals worth it? they seem fairly well made, and other than a few little quirks they have fairly good reviews. seems like they may be a good buy for the money. my pedal board looks like its gonna b alot of rocktrons (which is cool because they go together) and a few danelectros...yeah im cheap.

i guess we have disregarded something that is actually quite important to making your decision....what kind of amp do you use?

splawn, well, and the BV, but i want more pre amp gain for solos. yes it has a boost but thats a volume boost. maybe a compressor would work. i want more sustain and a tighter gain sound for my leads. for the slower leads it sound great. got that soulful sag you know. but when im tapping or sweeping (badly) i want a more defined gain. you know what i mean?

EDIT: maybe its just bad tecknique

im happy with my rythm gain. i can turn it up and get it even more crunchy and awsome. i never said it wasnt brutal. but i dont want the same sound for my lead as i do for the rythm. i want a tighter gain, and i cant go over and turn up the preamp everytime i solo right?
