Thumb Pain!
ive just reached a point in my playing where i feel confident enough to record a demo. i have in the last 4 months revamped my picking by picking lightly and more accurately but recenctly even when playing soft acoustic appregios this SLIGHT pain fires u in my picking thumb. what am i doing wrong? i hold the pick flat between my pointer and thumb . i dont overpractice nowadays 2 hours tops, althought the first 8 months it was 6-9 hours
can someone find the route of my problem

Well if its a shooting pain like then its probably a pinched nerve. Never really heard of that happening in that spot before. Its like when you try to throw a ball or something really really hard, you can pinch a certain nerve in your elbow that sends a shooting pain down your arm, referred as "tennis elbow" when it starts doing nerve damage. Id get it checked out if it continues to bother you.

Hmmm, I think we shall dub it "tennis face".

Fellatio Face.
And yes, your bones are probaly rubbing up against your nerve for some dumb reason and you might need to start holding the pick differently. Think about what you did when you 'revamped' and you might be able to figure out why and what needs to change, assuming the pain started then. And yes, see a doctor.

Very helpful, that. And I'm not really sure that mistaking homophones is a matter of grammar, strictly speaking. In any case, it has not as damn thing to do with his thumb, unless the pain in his thumb is, you believe, causing him to spell poorly by affecting his typing in a way that makes him choose to write a longer homophone rather than the shorter, correct one.

You gotta love it when a random person creates a new account on a forum to ask about some pain that is recurring enough to warrant seeing a doctor.
Yeah, go see a doctor.

Doctors dont know shit. They'll just say stop playing guitar for 7-10 days and the condition should clear itself up. Ill spare you sitting in the waiting room for 4 hours to hear that.

Screw everything everyone has said so far because this is your problem--you're holding the pick too damn hard. Stop it. Try holding the pick differently. Maybe like Chuck Schuldiner. He's god, by the way.
