Hi, thinking of buying a Godin Detour, heard good things about Godin as a whole. Any thoughts and opinions on this guitar? I'll be using it for metal mostly .thanks

Can't be entirely helpful - I have a Godin Freeway classic and I think it's an excellent guitar for the price you pay. For metal, you have 2 main problems with this guitar.
First, it has a pretty thick neck which a lot of people don't like for metal style playing or shredding etc. I don't know if the Detour has the same neck contour though.
Second, the pickups are pretty bright and a little lacking in articulation and the maple body/neck combo probably accentuates this.
So if you like the feel of it, you could either get a pickup change or consider something like the Godin Freeway with EMGs. But overall Godin makes good quality mass produced guitars are sane prices.

Godins are nice playing guitars. My uncle has the Godin Detour, it's red and nice looking. If I were you I would purchase it.

i love godin man. even their crappy guitars feel really good. crappy pickups dont sound good though. i think if i was gonna be endorsed by a company of my choice (haha whatever) it would be godin or parker

well guys i have actually gone and ordered a maverick species 2 off ebay, hope the gamble pays off. I am still considering the detour though,

I would have gone with the Maverick, too. It's much more suited for metal than the Godin.
