Hey everyone, I was wondering about the volume of death grunting, I can death grunt similar to that of Opeth but its only about as loud as normal talking volume, I dont know if this is an issue or not because the sound is amplified with a mic anywayz, just wondering if it should be louder ???

I think it is quite quiet to be honest.
I once saw a video with a guy called Ed Gawz recording his vocals in a studio on youtube. His were quieter than speaking!

(Better) volume comes with practice but never try and absolute belt it out, it will cause you pain and lower volume as well. I can fill my house with my drainpipe tongue-to-the-roof-of-mouth voice now. Not blaringly loud but you know, so that it is heard clearly and so that you can hear it echo back you, carrying the fear of all who hear it.

I think this depends also on the Technique you use, besides practise, of course.
If you bark them out like corpsegrinder, they will be at least equal to normal speaking volume.
If you do guttural grunts like the Mortal Decay singer, for instance, it might be a lot more quiet than your normal speaking volume.

As i can only do the guttural kind, i hope this is right...

grow some fucking balls, drink some hard liqour, and sing about what really pisses u off. thats what worked for me.

marijuana helps alot with the gutterals, dont listen to that barnes bullshit, he chose that route, ill tell you, when i toke a big fat j and go do some gutterals, they are sick as fuck, same with screams
