PA Amp Shocks!

I have this Peavey PA Amp and it seems to shock me when I touch a device plugged into it (i.e. microphone, bass, etc). Can anyone tell me why I might be getting shocked? I have the PA elevated high enough to avoid static electricity. How can I avoid getting shocked? Thanks!

Is it a constant shock?

If so your gears grounding isn't leveled to each other, something isn't grounded, or you are using EMGs with the ground wire attached to the bridge.

EMGs require no grounding to the bridge and strings.

You are dealing with a grounding problem. A dangerous one too. I know thats a general term that can mean anything but I would need to be thier to check you setup to find what is happening. I got my fingers burned once buy playing a friends amp that wasn't ground when I touched a door knob with my other hand.

I read up and seen this PA amp is old school 2 prong power supply, no ground pin... The shock is constant.

Take the amp to a tech and have him install a grounded power cable. Ususally this just involves disconnecting the old cord, installing a new grounded cord to the same spot and attaching the ground lead to the chassis of the amp. But I wouldn't try this yourself. It might create ground loop problems in the PA itself and could be potentially dangerous. A tech will know where to properly place a the ground from the cable according to the circuit layout of the PA amp.

Yup, you need to have a a new ( grounded ) power cable installed. 2 prong power cables are not safe when you are using other gear that is grounded.
