Ibanez SR300 Bass, Active?
I just bought an ibanez sr300 bass with active eq. Does this mean that i could install active pickups and use the active eq's battery to power them?
Or would I have to install another battery pack?
Thanks

Well I dont know about the sizes of the SRX-505's pickups, but I know that Bartolini makes a TON of different sized pickups. What kind of setup are you using?

Im sure it can be done but it would probably be a better idea to just replace everything. Im assuming your bass has a PJ pickup setup so you have quite a few options as far as pickups go. But if you are gonna replace the pickups i'd also replace the preamp. What kind of tone are you after?

See the thing is I have to be able to play a bit of everything since on weekends I play with a mexican band for money and practice but I also play mostly black/death metal and crust with bands so I really need somthing that can cover all that wich is asking a lot. my rig is decent I seen to think for what I paid its a peavey mark 5 head and a peavey 1x15 cab.

I dont think there are any pickups that are a direct replacement for those found in the SRX-505, so maybe you could invest in one of these instead: http://www.bestbassgear.com/sansamp...e-driver-di.htm
These things are pretty cool, you can dial in some really warm, fat tones and some awesome distortion if you need it. It also doubles as a DI for recording or going direct into a PA. If your problem is you tone isnt "fat" or "big" enough, one of these would provide a substantial improvement.

Well I looked up your bass and it has stock Ibanez pickups, which are far from the best and that gives you a lot of options.
