New Lamb of God...
What the fuck...
I am completely suprised how much they changed. It's like a Pantera rip off. The vocals aren't Lamb of God at all. I think I can now consider myself a former fan of Lamb of God. As the Palaces Burn was the golden age album for them.

Wow, i didnt know you could take one step further in being more mainstream with Lamb Of God. The vocals are a little more accessible, music is slightly more shit.
All i can compliment on is the production i guess.

I love the raw production of New American Gospel and Palaces. I think the production of this and Ashes has alot to do with them going downhill. This is just asking to go mainstream in metal.

Lamb of God were like a mix of Pantera and Metallica... and it seems they have cut the Metallica. Oh well, I have never been a real big fan of Lamb of God

I strongly disagree. Lamb of God were simply Lamb of God.

Hobnailed cuntflaps! That track sounds like it was one that missed the cut for Reinventing The Steel. Lamb of God were one of the very few of the popular bands I found tolerable. What the fuck are they thinking?

Despite popular belief, I actually like it. No, it's not as good as gospel, palaces, or ashes, but it's still some rockin stuff. I'm definitely looking forward to the new shit and just hoping this wasn't the best track on the album.

Well, 'Pestilence' definitely was'nt the best Once Was Not track, but I have a feeling that this one from L.O.G. is going to be sinker.

Uh, is that not Phil Anselmo on vocals? I'm almost 100% sure that is him. I doubt Lamb of God would deliberately try to make the vocals sound exactly like Pantera, so perhaps it was a guest appearance?

It's obviously not Phil. It's very clearly Randy (he still does the 'inward singing' sounding thing). At times he's also doing a Chuck Billy at times. And yes, it sounds like second-rate Pantera, played LoG style.
'So goddamn easy to write this ... this is a motherfucking imitation' - sounds right. I know he sounds 'invitation,' but it sure sounds like 'imitation' to me. But maybe it's all deliberate, and they named it 'Redneck' for a reason.
Oh, and disagree all you want, but there was always a strong element of Pantera to Lamb of God. Not a huge surprise, as they came up in the South. And, last time I checked, the Southern Metal Scene today consists of ripping off Pantera, so this is just situating them as far as I'm concerned.

I got kicked out of a band once because they wanted a vocalist like Lamb of God, wich i dissapproved of, told them to let me use my own style. So I got booted, and found another band that actually liked me. Now this band (Among Humans) is coming up in the metal scene around here. But long story short, If they wanted a Lamb of God styled vocalist, I could have done that now... Just go through puberty and yell how much you hate things... just like good ol' Pantera did.

I will punch you in your TAINT if you talk shit about them again. And PST, a lot of local metal bands rip off Pantera, I try not to but their is definetly an influence because they are my favorite band....

What is with wrong with people on here. As soon as any band gets any form of recognition its instant flame. Log has never sold out , they've always had their own sound. Yes the vocals sound alot like pantera on this track, but my god the guitar playing has gone up a notch since ashes. Stop ratting on something until you hear the overall product. Just my opinion.

The guitar sounds somewhere between traditional LoG, which always had a distinct Pantera influence, and Pantera, so it's not surprising that it now sounds a shitload like Pantera. Like I said, it sounds like Pantera riffs played in Lamb of God's style.

This song hasn't got them recognition, what are you talking about. If recognition comes, it will be after the release of the album, not when one song is available to listen to.

It's ONE FUCKING SONG. You all sound like musically-ignorant little mallcore kids. You can't say that they used to be good, but now the entire band sucks because of one song that you don't like. If I ignored entire CDs because of one song, I'd have about five albums in my collection.
You should have been able tell just by looking at the name of the song that it wasn't going to be the "traditional" Lamb of God style. Maybe you should all stop sucking Pantera's dick so much and realize that it's impossible to NOT sound like anyone else. That's what happens when you have influences. Sometimes, it's just more obvious than others.

Dream Theater sound like dozens of different bands. It's sad that they've actually gotten people to believe that they're so damn original when they sound alternately like a half-dozen classic prog bands with some more pointless noodling and the occasional Metallica hack.
Any artist worthy of the name overcomes his influences. He doesn't forge his own path only to be overcome by them. If it sounds overwhelmingly like Pantera, then it doesn't sound enough like Lamb of God.
And nobody's said anything they can't take back when other songs come out. But it's often a bad sign when the first song released off a new album seems so lazy and derivative.

I think it's kinda nice sounding. I'm pleased with it. Nothing wrong with being popular and having enough money to have the freedom to let your Pantera roots sound strongly through your music.
I'll buy it

...Wait a minute... I wasnt bad mouthing Pantera. There one of my favorite bands, and if it were not for Phil Anselmo I probally wouldnt be in a band right now. But seriously, thats what he does. If I didnt like them I would have came out and told you I didnt like them. Plus im listening to Drag The Waters right now... lol.
Anyways, upon furthing listening of the Lamb of God track Redneck, I think im stuck in the middle point now. I use to dissaprove, and then my freind told me not to think of it as ripping Pantera off, but more so being a tribute to them. I actually might be able to tolerate lamb of god if they do end up sounding more like Pantera.

This song hasn't done anything for them, yet, at least. They aren't a very popular band. So i'm guessing what you ment by that post is, "nothing wrong with trying to be popular because you have enough money...".
They have established themselves as Lamb of God for simply being Lamb of God. Why start showing a very heavy influence over 10 years into your career. If you've been in a band that long you don't start writting like your favorite band years down the line. Yes, they always have had a Pantera influence, but they should have their own sound now.
And yes it is only one song, all of this is probably pointless.

fucking jesus. I heard that song the other day cause my friend showed it to me and I personnally wasnt too impressed. they obviously havent had the same exact sound for each album, I mean look at New American Gospel and compare it with As the Palaces Burn. this is just fucking out there though, again, not to happy with it.

Another new song up, and they completely made up for Redneck. The other song is damn good, I like it.

Is something wrong with LoG? They aren't pantera now...silly bastards.
The reason I liked em' in the first place was that they had an original sound. Now they sound like a processed radio band.
I hope the rest of the album isn't like this single.

In my opinion, I think a band can go as mainstream as they want, to the point where they are wiping their ass with Jay Leno's face, and still sound good as long as they don't let it go to their heads.
I only have listened to Ashes of the Wake, and a few other songs. This new song of theirs was good, but not compared to some of the stuff I had listened to. I know this sounds ignorant, but I don't really have a standard when it comes to vocals. If I had one, it would be "He/she shall sound like a mammoth, not a wimpy prepubesant boy." As far as I'm concerned, Randy is great. But yeah, the Pantera-sounding vocals turned me off to the song a little.
I like their faster stuff. Had more of a drive. More energy. Chris' drumming is clean and sharp, little or no sloppiness. He sounds better, though, at some of their faster songs like Blood of the Scribe and even their slower songs like Omerta. I don't feel it at this tempo.

If you liked the last album and fear change, then Sacrament is for you.
Aside from Redneck, this is the same exact shit. It's like an album full of AOTW outtakes.

Well the new album is leaked and it definately doesn't sound all like "Redneck". So I think the theory (if you will) that that song "Redneck" is aimed at Phil is true ("I aint taking names, or throw stones at a house of glass", "this is a motherfucking immitation", "so godamn easy to write this youd think it'll spill on the page", "Redneck", etc). May be Randy and Phil have a rivalry of some sort.(Any thoughts on this)
As for the rest of the album .... I Love It.
Here's the torrent page for those who prefer it.

The reason I liked em' in the first place was that they had an original sound. Now they sound like a processed radio band.
I hope the rest of the album isn't like this single.

Processed radio band is right. I can just hear the Nickelback influences pouring in.

Hmm. I like Walk With Me In Hell, good riffs and awesome drumming. The usual Lamb of God to me, nothing more than that..

People are comparing the vocals to Phil, (which they do sound like an impersonation of) and moaning about rip offs etc but let us not forget how much Phil (and Pantera) borrowed from Exhorder.

And let us not forget how much Exhorder borrowed from various thrash bands. And those various thrash bands who borrowed from Sabbath and punk bands. And the punk bands that borrowed from the ramones. And the ramones who borrowed from older rock and roll, just made it a little faster. Every band borrows from some other combinations of bands. Thats not a bad thing at all in my book. Its a lot harder to make a new invention than to improve on an already existing one.

Regarding the change in the vocal styles, I think it's more because he's had to change the way he growls/screams/whatever. A lot of vocalists have been realizing that they are causing damage to their vocal cords. I personally don't mind it. However, I did not enjoy "Redneck" at all. I'd go so far as to say that it fucking sucked. It's good to be influenced by Pantera but not to so much of an extent.

It depends if you're not too lazy to be an innovator or you just want to ride the coat tails of someone elses success.
There's borrowing ideas from people and then there's wholesale ripping them off!
But thanks for the rock family tree and the brief study in metal eugenics, it filled in so many blanks for me.

Goddamn, I just got the CD today. I fucking love it. Like a better version of Ashes of the Wake. And as for the most noticeable change, randy's anselmo worshipping, I think he does a good job in the rough singing parts. Like it or not there is no way you could claim he is singing like a pussy. That is fucking manly singing.

Turns out, not a lot. I thought I might like this more after a few listens... turns out, no. It sounds thin and reedy and unconvincing, real going-through-the-motions stuff.

Randy literally wrote 'Pray for the end of your wide-awake nightmare' as one of the first lines of the first song. That made it very clear how paint-by-numbers it was going to be.

Yeah i agree, i'm not impressed with the song Redneck but the rest aren't too bad. Its not near as good as Ashes of the wake, which is probably one of my favorite cds, although at times its alot of wasted space (long parts of just open playing).
But i think the newer Lamb of God cd is decient. First listen wasn't that enthusastic, since i've kinda changed my ways. Vocals at tiem are eh... but i like the real "lamb of god" vocals that he probably does about half the tiem in this. You know that super sucking in air voice. Definately unique.
